Since we started weaning our DD at nearly 6 months old, I've always found that the store bought portion sizes are consistently twice as big as what she would ever eat. As soon as her appetite increases, we're on to the next stage, and the pouch or tray suddenly gets bigger. (This is not to say we always feed her store bought, it's just one of the reference points I have with regards to portion size).
So I'm just wondering what portion sizes other babies eat? My LO rarely eats more than 110g for her main (1/2 a store bought pot or about 6 ice cube tray cubes) and then she'll have a much smaller portion of fruit or yogurt afterwards.
I'm sure that whatever she is eating is enough for her and I'm really not worried, but I'm just very curious as I've just completed a HIPP survey and it asked what I thought was the right portion size for a 10 month old and the SMALLEST portion size it offered as an option was 180g.
I wonder if the large store bought servings are symptomatic of living in a society where many people don't know what a proper portion size is and consequently overeat? Or does my DD just eat like a bird?
