Hi, just a quick question regarding BLW. Does the baby have to sit upright unsupported or sit up right if on your lap/in a high chair. DD is 23 weeks now and I can't see how she will be sitting unsupported by 26 weeks, although she sits straight if I help her.

DD could sit upright supported but had excellent control of her head and neck. That's the important bit, so that they can swallow safely. I used the ikea plastic chair with the inflatable infant support (total cost £19).
Yes, I think so. I think it's to do with choking. My DD1 was fine by 26 weeks but I recall a couple of weeks before her slumping over at a playgroup. They change v quickly at this age.
And if it's 27 weeks it doesn't matter. 26 weeks is just a guideline

My DS seemed to suddenly "get" sitting up at the 25/26 weeks mark - it felt like an overnight transformation. Certainly he couldn't sit unsupported for long, but was fine when strapped into his chair or in the bumbo.

thanks for advice, maybe DD will change suddenly, happy camel do you have the name or link for the chair you used? I just ate lunch with DD screaming her head off until I gave her a piece of broccoli to play with, (I didn't let her put it in her mouth) She's now 23 weeks, I didn't really believe it when I heard babies cry because they really 'want food' as surely they can't know what it is until they've tried it right, but she does seem to be a bit whiney whenever I'm eating these days!

oh btw I have a tripp trapp chair, but I assume she can't use this until she can sit properly, as it doesn't have any padded support, just the wood.

She just wants to do what you're doing, be it eating, driving, using a knife etc.
Ikea antilop is fab.

thanks showof, I think you're right. She tries to eat the table! So I don't think she does really know what food is. Did you use the ikea antilop with any other support to help them to sit or was that enough by itself? it's really cheap! I already have the tripp trapp chair, but should I get this until she sits a bit better?

If you've got a tripp trapp I'm sure that's fine. DS is 23 weeks and sits in the antilop to play while we eat/wash up. I roll up a towel and put it behind him but he's okay without it tbh. He is desperate to steal food too but has a slight tongue thrust reflex still and wouldn't manage to eat it.
