Anyone else get major mood swings when cutting down on breastfeeding?

I've been breastfeeding for 9months and my DS is now down to 2 feeds a day as he guzzles his solid food. My AF returned last week and the last few days I have been a total emotional mess- very teary and irrational! Is this normal? Does anyone have any experience of this and can let me know how long it lasts?

YES! I have been wondering the same thing. My DS is eight months and is now on 3 feeds a day. I find i feel a swell of emotion around 11am each day, I express that feed and put it in the freezer these days and sometimes I'll feel tears arrive out of nowhere while I'm doing it! Mood swings too...

Glad its not just me! I read somewhere that it is to do with a lack of progesterone. While you are breastfeeding, progesterone is released which produces feelings of calm and relaxation. As you cut down/stop breastfeeding less progesterone is produced and can lead to depressed/teary feelings. I hadn't heard anything about this before I experienced it so just wondered how common it was...
