You'll get engorged breasts (uncomfortable) if you stop too quickly so try dropping a feed every couple of days and gradually introduce bottles. Maybe do bottles as the evening feed first or first one of the day and work from there.

I bet someone else posts going, "Why give up etc etc?"

Good luck!!!!

Im in the middle of switching over at the mo. 7mo DS has always had a bottle before bed (it was EBM and is now formula) and 2 weeks ago we decided to give formula if he woke in the night (sometimes once, sometimes not at all). Its probably the wrong way round (ie cutting out night before day) but we were getting concerned that he would only settle at night with the boob so decided to give a bottle instead. He seemed a bit resistant at first but is fine now (and doesn't mind if its me or DH who gives it).

So, last week I started giving an 11am bottle and 2 days ago I made the 3pm a bottle as well so now I'm just down to a BF in the morning. As I only feed on one side per feed that means each boob now has to go two days between feeds! I'm expressing a couple of times a day at the mo but will reduce that so it doesn't keep my supply artifically high. I am a bit sore but its managable (apart from when DS head butted one of them earlier... Grin).

Not sure when I'll stop the morning feed. On the one hand I feel like I'm ready to move on from BF but I also know I'll be really upset when I do the last one!

HTH

For me it took about 4 or 5 days for the breasts to adjust to dropping one feed. So it's best to do it no quicker than that. Good luck.
