How long until the milk goes?

So I'm on week 5.5 after my 16m now 17m has stopped bf...but I still have milk.
When can I expect it to go finally? Do I have to express it? Is mastitis a worry if my breasts aren't 'drained' ??

It takes a few months with me. No mastitis.
