Marazion. Pubs, cafes, little galleries, little post office for basics etc. Town is next to beach, no steep cliffside walk. Very near to penzance for supermarkets etc. It will still be busy (all of cornwall is) but as its a long way down, it will be quieter than newquay etc.

www.merlin-farm-cottages-cornwall.co.uk surrounded in lush countryside, 15 mins walk to Mawgan Porth Beach - a stunning sandy beach, 5 mins drive to Watergate Bay, 15 mins drive to Padstow & Newquay. We go every year and love it !

CARBIS BAY. very near to St Ives. got a beautiful beach, perfect for children, with watersports available, so perfect for grown ups too!
not a huge amount in carbis bay, but enough - shop, cafe, hotel, pub, italian, fish & chips .... and a 2 minute train journey and you'll be in St Ives, or you can walk along the coastal path and it takes about 20 minutes - beautiful walk, amazing views ........

I love penzance. We used to stay in a cottage in newlyn when i was little. It was a fishing village rather than a beach, although youre right near st Michaels Mount. Short driving distance of Porthcurno, sennen cove, pedn vounder, mousehole. Could still do St Ives or Lizard as a day trip

We live in Cornwall but for our mini honeymoon we went to Coverack and it was so lovely beautifully picturesque, fab beaches, a few really nice eating places, a place where you can hire kayaks which was cheap and great fun, a gorgeous pub with a beer garden with the sea on three sides. It is close to Helston and the lizard etc.

us and DS age 8, want somewhere that is:
Close by to nice beaches (beaches with a cafe, perhaps)
Near a little town or village where some nights we can go for pub tea
Near a larger town - incase it rains we can do the cinema, bowling etc...
St Ives, Padstowe, Newquay all look nice BUT it will be heaving in those areas in summer months
where would you recommend?
