London

Much to my chagrin, we have never yet taken the children to London - living only 60 miles up the road this makes me very ashamed - does anyone have any tips on a nice, cheap hotel we could go to, central-ish, for a Saturday night, so we could take them to various museums? We're looking at going to the science, Imperial War, and Natural History. They're dd5 and ds10.

Cheers in advance.

Have a nosy on laterooms but double check on the hotels direct website in case of hidden deals.

You might find all 3 museums a bit much in one hit IMO.

Have a stroll down the South Bank on Sunday morning for a little light relief if the weather is dry, lots to see and not essential to spend ££s Smile

can you take the train? 60 miles away would surely only equal a half hour fast train connection in.

coolma · 16/01/2011 10:34

Oh yes, we would take the train but it would nice to make it a weekend.

There are several Travelodges in central london, and PremierInns, also check Days Inn / Days Hotel - the waterloo one is within a v short walk of the Imperial War Museum.

The Hoxton regularly does £1 offers. Great Hotel, bargain price if you can manage to get a room.

Base2stay is another reasonably priced option.

Travelodges and Premier Inns are a really good option as mentioned by Blu. There is a Premier Inn in Kensington which is a great location and a Travelodge in Covent Garden another great location.
