Can anyone recommend first proper bike ( not balance bike) for three year old ds?

We bought ds basic balance bike when he was little over 2 and he is now flying across the park. He is tall for his age, which helped. We think he is ready for a proper bike, with pedals. Is it too soon? All the ones we have seen say 4 years. Can anyone recommend a good one which might be suitable? Would love some advice.

The ridgeback bikes are brilliant. We bought DS one for his 4th birthday but they are available for younger children too. DH who is in to cycling said it was very sturdy and the brakes, wheels were good etc etc. I don't have a clue about bikes myself but i wasn't keen on all the gymicky plastic ones available. I wanted a bike to last and it has been crashed a few times and held up well.

My son also had a glance bike an he was riding easily without stabilisers at 3 and a half. I bought his bike for £15 at an nct sale, it was from halfords originally and is absolutely great.

Thank you, this is so helpful. The Nct tip is great too. Hadn't thought of that but it is a good starting point. Thanks again!
