cant poo pick as field is so trashed and wet, its a struggle to get hay into it as its ankle deep in mud.

rugs sopping wet, ponies wet.

cant ride as school if not covered in snow is sodden!

Got a lesson tomorrow in an indoor school, but still got to get trailer out in the rain, take wet rugs off, tack up in the rain , untack in the rain, and so on.

Moaning and fed up!!

Yup. But we have no turn out on grass. Well there's grass but you stand on it and the water seeps up

But it's getting dark at 5pm the clocks change in 7 weeks and summer will be on the way!!

Another one also fed up. My horse's field is knee deep around the gate and I fell over in it yesterday. Even my knickers were full of mud. And I lost a boot so had a muddy foot. Very fed up with it (but at least fat little mare has lost weight)

Dhorse has appalling mud fever so is confined to his stable for the time being -even once it's gone I'm not sure I'll turn out much again this winter as the only field available is sodden or liquid mud. Dpony went out for a while yesterday and was thrilled to be called back in!

I am negotiating with the farmer to see if I can borrow one of the areas he uses for sorting his cattle for them so that they can stretch their legs a bit more during the day. It's about 60 foot long by about 15 foot wide and next to the cattle barns - a bit of straw on it and some hay and I think they'd be happy. I'm walking out in hand for 40 mins or so daily but it's really not good. His leg absolutely has to be kept clean and dry, and open to the air so it's really tricky - four vet visits, two sedatives, 6 penicillin injection and two weeks on and it's still erupting and weeping in new places. Vile, vile, vile!

No turn out here either. Arsehole farmer is making us keep them in. Fields all waterlogged & muddy gate ways. Too windy to ride anywhere and no school. Summer can't come quick enough :-(

Farmers eh? Ours sent his idiot assistant to deliver the hay yesterday, one of those enormous oblong ones that costs £60 and weighs an absolute ton. We'd left the pallets neatly stacked with the tarpaulin folded underneath to stop it blowing away as we are usually there when it is delivered. This time he brought it a day early and didn't give us enough time to get there before he dumped the bale on the top of everything. We've spent all morning struggling through the ankle deep mud (even worse now he's been through there with a tractor and trailer) with wheelbarrows to cart the hay along to the field (it's a narrow path where the tractor can't go). We've managed to stuff most of it in the shed and found a smaller tarpaulin to go over the stuff we didn't have room for, otherwise the whole lot would have been spoiled with the weather as it is. It wasn't even easy to get the hay off in slices because it was tipped at an angle and as soon as we cut the strings it all collapsed. Am now aching all over and not happy!
We've been at this field for many years and I've never seen it anywhere near as wet as this. There may be a bit of mud around the shelters but the rest is usually fine, but now everything is sodden and we have lakes! Must say I'm very pleased with my £20 bargain rug from Robinsons, it hasn't leaked at all and stays put beautifully.

was going to have a small whinge too but you are all having a much more horrible time

have perfected art of catching horse from over fence (just loop lead rope through head collar and hold the clip end, so if he takes off it will slip free without something unspeakable happening to me/the fence) and coaxing him round less squishy edge to the gate - don't know when or how I trained him to come to 'oi!' but it saves a lot of horrible mud wading - and through the gate without me having to go in the squelchy bits

first day out in lovely new horseware Ireland rug and it has mysteriously lost the fillet string (no leg straps) and the rings it went through, so it's completely useless until those bits can be replaced nothing to attach even baler twine to.

Mitchy had exactly the same happen withmine! Was so annoyed!!!! Have improvised with key ring ring & twine.

Ours our stuck in untill 'further notice' ie when said farmer grows a set of balls or I move yards.

Mine come to oi & fatty lol ... ooops

Oh dear, that's not good! Those rugs are quite pricey aren't they? I think I'd complain.

Mine comes to the very slight click when I put the key in the haystore padlock .

i'v ended up on my bum and covered in muck every time i've been near the paddocks recently
cant ride coz the school is flooded
cant hack out coz of the dark evenings
im just fed up
(the share is ending at the end of feb so my time is running out )

We spent weeks not riding as arenas flooded. Then weeks cooped up as couldn't get to arena for ice. Then the ice melted and it flooded again. Then the snow came and we couldn't get off the yard to the arena
8 weeks later and (why thanks weather gods) we get gale force winds to ride our lovely clipped horses in that have done nothing for weeks!!

daren't turn mine onto the field as it's way too wet and it's the only grass we have - paid a fortune to get it fertilised and re-seeded last year. My poor lads have a bit of hardstanding under a field shelter for night time and get turned out into the mini sand-arena during the day.
Had the rain-sheet off my cob the other day and his bum has really shrunk due to lack of exercise and weight loss yet they both get a haybale a day between them (only 2 ponies) plus some beet... And the forecast's given bloody snow for this week digs out thicker rugs

My cob's well-covered but not too fat so I'm pleased with his weight but he has no muscle at all now. He's been wet and muddy for so long that I can't remember the last time I was able to comb out his mane and tail, he is covered in dreadlocks and has a long beard like a billy goat. Honestly, I'm surprised he hasn't been reported, such is his apparent neglect!
It was raining hard again today. Now wading through almost knee-deep poo soup to get to the muck heap. Have really really had enough.

Where are you with snow forecast? I'd rather have that than this rain and so would dhorse .

Should have guessed by the name. I've no idea what it means but it sounds irish .
South of England here so we will probably get sleet as usual...

Argh! It's been wet for so long that the fence posts are now rotting in the ground and breaking off. Horses from two adjacent fields in with dhorse this morning. All are fine but I can do without a 17.3hh part-shire with enormous shod feet wrecking what's left of my grass!

was v v v late turning horse out today due to miscommunication with helper, thought would never ever catch him again but after an hour or so of 2000mph sleet driving at him from all directions he was dangling his head over the gate with a 'this isn't all it's cracked up to be' look on his face

I have a lake not a field, old retired mare now thinks she is a water buffalo and has been grazing the grass that's under the water !

was at work from 8am to 7pm today and DD at school till late so I've had to let the lads out on a bit of the field... they went mental (shorty skidded and fell on his bum in the snow with excitement)

Luckily I came home in the dark so can't see the carnage that is the field till the morning...
