I used to do all my jobs with lo in a sling wearing my husbands coat zipped up to keep her warm, she was a late december baby and born small but always seemed very cosy

I used to have mine in a baby sling and fastened inside my barbour. It was really nice grooming and cuddling my old Highland and DS1 snuggled in too.

Snowsuit, footmuff and raincover. If its really bitter cold, a hot water bottle
In there aswell, but in the bottom of the footmuff so the heat comes up, not right next to or underneath baby. Always leave the flap up on the raincover unless its blowing a gale or pissing it down/ snowing.

I had mine in a moby sling or in the pushchair - wrapped in blankets with rain cover on. He was feb born and went hunting at 4 days old as well like this. He has a snowsuit on now and happily sits chatting to ponies over the stable door

BabyJane push chair has a very warm fully lined waterproof cover combined with good rain covers. Would still be warm enough even in the snow.

I think at 6 weeks old cord trousers may not be all that practical / comfortable? I would go with vest, socks (or tights if really cold) then babygro over the top, then fleecy jumper, then snowsuit and booties. Then, depending on weather add blanket / cosytoes, hat, mitts. And partially open raincover to take wind-chill away...

I second the rain cover idea - I used to do that when mine were tiny - it's like a little bubble of warmer air around them and keeps the wind off.

Probably stating the obvious but do keep buggy well away from where your horse's hind quarters could swing round and knock it over.

I lived in manhattan with small baby, so here is what I did to keep DS warm, first we had a down buggy liner /sleeping bag( ours was called 6am I think and it extendable as they grow) - makes a very cosy bed, and then put the rain cover over.we had a city buggy (with big wheels- best buggy/stroller we had) which crucially , the rain cover went all the way down the sides, creating a nice cacoon. Plus a hat, then your little munchkin should be as snug as a bug in a rug!

Put the rain cover on. It will keep the chill off.

But don't close it all the way round, leave a bit open to let fresh air in.

One of ^ those , lots of layers, hat, gloves etc and a microwaveable pad to pop on their toes.

Extra blankets under the buggy if needed!

Stretchy wrap, like having a baby hot water bottle too. Your coat goes round both of you and saves all the bother of coats on and off. You can get micro fleece ones for extra warmth.

They are fab and lovely and warm .... I liked to the Italian ones but they are bound to have something like this in the Uk ...

Any ideas much appreciated! So far I've got him some cord trousers, a nice thick warm jumper, and a snowsuit thingy to wear over that top. We were doing well with that when it was 12 degrees or more, but am now worrying that he won't be ok outside as the temperature drops. Really need to be able to have him outside, even in buggy, so can feed/muck out/rug etc!
