The past 3 days,dpony has been charging around her field,flinging enormous bucks,snorting and doing her excitable welshie head waving thing.There doesn't seem to be anything that is setting her off,unless the sight of me poo picking is unbearably exciting. She is obviously happy and riding wise is just as steady as ever,but the in the nearly 6 months we've had her,I've never seen her so frisky and I'd never seen her gallop until today.Watching her fling herself about you'd never guess she was 22.

My little welshie was charging around yesterday - we were wondering if it was just the excitement of his new field mate, but maybe not.

Dpony is always...lively..but is delighting in making sure he clears any jump with at least 2 foot to spare this week. Which was a little embarrassing for DD when they were doing an exercise with trotting poles at Pony Club rally . He is a rather araby looking Welsh B so clearly feels he need to live up tohis appearance/breeding!

Not just mine then.Plus a friend rang earlier and said hers were all the same.
The hunt are coming around tomorrow-normally she doesn't pay much attention,but I'm wondering if she's liable to join them in her current mood.

1 of mine showed me his back feet yesterday went i went to put a head collar on!

My poor welshie hasn't got the energy to buck and prance about, I've just weaned her foal from her because the poor girl looks like a toast rack! The little monster has taken energy thing his poor mum had to give, and a bit more! The coal however, is a right nutter at the moment!

Yep, Gd's young(ish) mare is a bit nuts at the minute. It's taken ages for her to come back down after hunting though, but she's definitely feeling spring like, and I think she's coming into season early

Oh no,hope dpony isn't going to come into season-she can be very grumpy.The last one was in Nov I think.

Olderyetwilder My mum says that dpony is trying to tell me that she wants to go hunting again,and why don't I take her? I was neither brave enough or good enough 30 years ago,so no way would I attempt it now.

Gd's going hunting again at half term, I'm definitely not riding as I don't think it's feasible to have your eyes tightly shut all the way, and it's the only way I'd be able to cope.

There's an article in H&H yesterday about whether mares were coming into season earlier because of the warmer winter, but someone said that it was daylight rather than temp regulated....

I wonder if a bit of grass triggers these things as well. We have loads of lovely fresh cow parsley along the path and we wouldn't normally expect that for a couple of months yet. I'm sure the grass is growing too, it just doesn't show as much because they eat it down straight away, but judging by lardy boy's enormous belly he's getting something!
