You could be right Privately! I certainly wouldn't intend to, but I can see that being tempting.
Our school system is different; he'll be 6 when he goes full time, so more than ready! When I worked in the kindergarten, I remember thinking (good naturedly of course) "oh honestly" about some of the parents...but now it's my turn and I'm thinking "oh he's so sensitive" . I blame pregnancy hormones!
I think cheerful, that as you know the staff at the school, it may be tempting to have more than your 'share' of access to the teachers in terms of having dialogue about your son. I think all parents should have equal access to teacher time. Am sure you' d be very sensitive about this but try not to ask how he's doing every 5 minutes
Don't press your nose up at the window and wave for 45 minutes.
Seriously though, take the lead from school. Most places will let you know their settling in policy well in advance. For example, one school I worked at encouraged parents to spend the first hour or so in nursery with their child but my son's school has a line for parents not to cross.
I was reading the "groundless complaints" thread, which got me thinking about when DS goes to full time school in September. He is my PFB (and has been an only, will be until May) and I'm going to try really hard not to be clingy and annoying.
I used to work at our school as a special ed aide, so I have some idea, but being a parent is going to be a whole different ball game.
So, lovely teachers of MN, any advice on being a helpful, supportive but not annoying parent?
