Cat now weeing all over the place.

Good sign but unfortunate for us, floor in utility, our bed but thankfully he is weeing now.

Don't worry. As soon as he's completely better that should stop. So is he on antibiotics?

Yes, he is on three medications!

Synulox, Cystophan and Metacam.

Apparently, Synulox is the most commonly used antibiotic for dogs and cats in the UK.

Protexin cystophan helps reduce and prevent the irritation and stress associated with feline idiopathic cystitis.

Metacam, not sure why we got that, according to Vet UK.....

He is still not weeing normally. I am still worried. He is very loving and woofing down the Royal Canin urinary food they (vets) have sold us. They are saying two and a half sachet's a day (he is 5.4 kg) and I am wondering how he will eat that much as he doesn't normally like wet food but as he is not having dry food maybe he can manage it. Not letting him out at moment so we can monitor weeing.

Not exactly weeing all over the place, sleeping and resting but not much wee. With tomorrow as a Friday I may need to think if he goes back to stay at Vets as still not weeing normally.

Got all the meds. Keeping him in.

Sorry no advice, just wanted to say I hope your cat feels better soon.

Metacam is a standard painkiller and anti-inflammatory - both of which properties are necessary to deal with cystitis. And yes, long term use can be problematic, but this is short term, to deal with a short term problem, and should be fine.

The poor mog has probably associated the pain of cystitis with the litter-tray, so will be avoiding having to use it. Once he feels better and is no longer in pain that association may be broken.

Cat seems better, allowed out tomorrow. Thanks for all your help and concern. No need for anti-depressants or re-homing!
