Had to have Thomas pts this morning.
At first I thought it was his aiha playing up, but in my heart I knew it was more serious
He was very wobbly, head shaking and incredibly thirsty. With the large amount of steroids he was on to keep his condition under control, I was warned he could go diabetic. At first I thought it was this.
When the vet examined him, she said that his breath had a distinct smell to it and this was a sign of anti freeze poisoning. I left him with them so they could run tests, and about half an hour later she phoned to tell me the bad news.
He had massive kidney failure and the prognosis was 0.
I am so gutted. Poor guy. He fought so hard to get back on track with his aiha, only to be taken like this
Please keep an eye out for any symptoms. There are some deliberate poisonings happening around the country at the moment, I just hope Thomas's accident was just that

I am so sorry - this is no way to lose a friend. At least you were there to help him at the end when he needed you most.
The people who do this deliberately are indescribable human beings.

Dillie - I am so very, very sorry
I really hope it was an awful, awful accident. I also hope they find the bastards doing this deliberately.
I'm so sorry, what a shitty thing to do to an animal.
We signed that petition last year. I don't see why it can't have bittering agents when household cleaners do.
Oh am I am so sorry
Will sign the petition now too.
I lost two rabbits boxing day to a fox, it is horrible losing loved pets.
This is the link
If you get a minute, I would be very grateful. Thank you

Signed and a link
OP - you might want to put a warning in your mumsnet local about this as well? I'm not in your area, am selfishly relieved
Thank you so much for your kind words x
Northern I live in Shropshire. There has been a spate of deliberate poisonings around here
There is a petition on the RSPCA website to get the government make the manufacturers put a bittering agent so pets and wildlife don't like it.
If you get a moment please sign it.
Thanks!
This is one of my fears, people are so so nasty to cats. Can't they put something in anti freeze to discourage animals from ingesting it?
So sorry for your loss

I am sorry. Awful.
This is why I have an indoor cat, I couldn't bear losing my sweet-natured little kit like this.

So sorry to hear this.
We had our house rabbit at vet today cos he wasn't drinking - turns out he just doesn't like bottles any more, it will have to be a dish.
Bugger he is!! £25 for nothing wrong!!
Hope you can get over Thomas. Pets are so special. I don't know what we'd do without Speedy MacReadie!!

Oh I'm so sorry. People are awful to cats. I live in dread of this with our lovely girl.
Roughly where in the country are you ?
God i'm so so sorry. How awful.
So sorry Dillie - we lost our beloved cat this morning to a previously undiagnosed lung tumour. It's a crappy start to the year, that's for sure.
