The doghouse

How do I stop my dog barking at the neighbours??

Every time it's out and mine goes out for a pee, all hell breaks loose and they bark and growl like crazy at each other!

I am stealth ninja at the mo, checking first to make sure it's not out before I let mine out but today it's been in the garden from about 4 and quite frankly Alandog, couldn't cross her legs any longer!
Tried a lead, it sort of worked and she did a quickk pee but it doesn't bode we'll for the summer or when I want to do training outdoors!

Water pistol? No idea if it works on dogs too, but it's done wonders for stopping my cats jumping on the roof of my neighbours' plastic greenhouse!

Do you know the other owner well enough to go for a walk together?

Would they be Ok off lead somewhere?

My otherwise placid Goldie comes over all pitbull when she can't see the huge dog she thinks is on the other side of the fence, the fact that YOU know its only pint sized Fluffy who is as soft as butter (or not maybe?) does not compute.

I'm no behaviourist though so hopefully someone will be along in a mo with more experience of this!

Thing is, the other dog is huge! And it can get its head over our wall to 'look over' at our dog which makes her even crazier.
The neighbour has said before she likes to walk her dog "away from other dogs" as its so hard to handle. Great eh!

No idea, other than what you are already doing. Unless there is some safe way to socialise the two of them? But that will take a lot of time and neighbour's cooperation. Love the user name btw! Was it you who told the Alan story on mn originally, or did you just like it?
