Ive posted a number of times over the last 3 months about my rather challenging rescue dog . Ive been at the end of my tether on a number of occasions and I know Im not the only one on here whos been struggling in similar circumstances. Ive had so much brilliant support on here when things have been tough, I thought Id post some Christmas good news.
Despite not having lived in a house before, Gymdog has been with us at my parents for nearly a week now. New house, new doors, new stairs, lots of new people, all very busy. He has been an absolute star. Affectionate, engaging, just lovely. Odd issues have been easily resolved by me taking him aside. He's been in my room on his big cushion at night and not a peep out of him until he knows Im awake, despite this being a very different arrangement to at home. Hes won my dad over, nearly won my mum over and has been a real addition to the family and our experience of xmas 2012. My parents are elderly and now very set in their ways so I was pretty nervous!
So as we go into 2013 I know Ive still got this long and very serious list of things to sort out zero recall, ghastly with other dogs, wants to kill the cat, you name it but I luffs him so much and he really is firmly one of the family. Happy Christmas Gymdog!

Yay
go Gymdog.
Good first Christmas for our pair too. SpicyDog went into hiding for a few hours when my parents arrived then decided it all sounded rather good fun and mostly hung out with us all!

I'll be watching keenly on the recall and ghastly with other dogs thing as our rescue has both of those as his special subjects! I can't see a day when he'll ever be off the lead.............
that's lovely, really encouraging
our newly adopted rescue dog also has zero recall and while I don't think he plans to kill the cats, would very much love to play vigorously with them
Excellent news. I find the experience of being somewhere new can tire them sometimes. Mental exercise iykwim
Also good here, even with 5 extra adults & an exuberant Rottweiler for four days! She spent some time at home (& coped with sleeping in a different bedroom) and spent some time at my mum's where she stays regularly so it wasn't too much for her. She is still knackered though!
Yay!! Go Gymdog!!!
What a lovely post and very encouraging.
