Why did he not just sell the flaming boat???
Also, it really annoyed me when he fell off the boat that he didn't just swim to the dinghy.
And then he just floated under the water after holding on for about 2 minutes.

Exactly!
Or why didn't the loan shark take it away?
Or the car they drove off in?
Glad he's gone anyway...
I missed the first half of the second episode. Was there a reason he couldn't climb back on to the boat? Had he done his back in again or something?
Gail hurt his wrist, so he couldn't swim or grip to the side of the dinghy

Grrr glad it wasn't just me who thought this was a totaly pants storyline.
Surely Joe could have hung on to the boat or the dinghy for far longer than 30 seconds!
How is him disappearing going to get the loan shark off everyone elses back?
How long before Gail takes the rap for the whole thing?
Glad he's gone but not for the 6 months of storyline to follow

I know he hurt his wrist, but come on, he could still have used his legs and other arm to swim with!
There are just too many holes in the plot.
Apparently she goes back and tells everyone that Joe has found work and that's why he's not come back with her......

Didn't get to see it. What happened? I heard he was going to fake his own death. Did he? I guess he didn't really cark it (shame)

Gail doesn't have much luck with husbands and water, does she?!!
Missed last nights - must try and catch up tonight.

He told Gail he was going to fake his own death, but she was against the idea so they had a fight and he went off in his boat trailing a dinghy behind. He was supposed to get into the dinghy and get to shore, leaving the boat in the lake for everyone to suspect he had drowned, but he fell in accidentally and then for some bizarre reason was unable to swim to the dinghy, but got to the boat. He held onto the side for about 2 minutes and then just sank underwater.
Gail was supposed to call police and say he's missing but I don't think she does - another idiotic thing that I cannot understand.
I really like Corrie, and some of the past dramatic storylines have been great, eg Richard Hillman, but this is just rubbish.
This whole story line is rubbish IMO.
I read recently that loan shark debts are un-enforceable in a court of law because the person lending the money is not a licenced credit broker.
Surely highlighting that in a storyline to millions of people who are at the mercy of cowboy loan sharks would be a better story?
Seeing Joe standing up for himself, fighting for his family, going to court and seeing the arsehole loan shark sent to prison would have been much better.
Not this faked death/actually happened load of balls.

Totally agree BigBadMummy - I read that too - so now everyone who has a loan shark on their backs will be thinking that the only way out is to fake death, run away to Ireland and not see your family for several years
.
What a selfish b***d Joe is - expecting his wife to lie to police and then leave all her family and friends to go and live life with a new identity somewhere else? And do that to his daughter?
Gail is better off without him.
(Sorry - getting a bit carried away there - back to reality now
!!)
I'm soooo bored with the Joe story line and the wider Gail's-unlucky-with-men story. Zzzzzz.

Blimey. what a load of old toss. Not that I care, Joe is a pillock and any affection I had for Gail as a long timer sunk without trace over this latest pile of poo.

I don't understand this storyline at all... they drove off in a Honda CRV on an 07 plate - thats £10,000 on the second market right there! Plus the boat on the back.

Can you imagine Gail turning up at the police station - oh look, the Merry Widow.
Bryan? Murdered. Richard Hillman? Attempted murder/suicide. Joe? Attempted fake suicide.
Only Martin Platt escaped with his life!

I think Gail will get accused of murdering him as that couple saw them ighting before he went off in strop!
Glad he's bloodygone, just need Gail to drown now!Cannot bear the woman. Rubbish storyline too!

Here is the cottage they used for the scenes.
It's lovely I think but at £1170 I think it would be a bit out of Joe and Gail's budget!
he is/was totally creepy though...
<groan> I think allaboutpootle's right, Gail'll be liable for the debt, accused of murder and/or insurance fraud. I hate miscarriage of justice story lines, all the same, all dull.

Im so glad for sky plus, I forward it when Joe and Gail come on!! Im much more interested in the Peter storyline. I reckon that grandad has been after Simon all along. Is it just me or, is Peter quite hot? (forget the drink problem)
