Just updated the Magpie Murders thread about this, but couldn't find one for the new series. Loved Magpie Murders and I hope this one is just as good

Ooh that looks good. I have to confess to having read the book so I'm looking forward to it. Some good tele coming up - can't wait for the Mirror & the Light either.

IwantToRetire · 06/11/2024 17:51

Thanks. I would never have associated this with the earlier series.

I really enjoyed the first one.

Also posting to remind myself!

AuntieJoyce · 06/11/2024 18:24

Thanks. I enjoyed this book much more than the first. Unfortunately I can remember the murderer but will still be good

Bichette · 06/11/2024 18:42

Oh fab. I have been waiting for this.
I've read the book but can't remember the plot as per usual!
Glad to see it's on bbc, I think Magpie Murders was on Britbox first.

Bichette · 06/11/2024 18:43

Can't wait to see Lesley Manville's wardrobe

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2024 10:42

I completely forgot to say when I posted that it should be weekly, so might be best if you start a no spoilers thread, just in case

No worries - will do one for weekly

I like to have something to look forward to and chat about episodes 😄

IwantToRetire · 17/11/2024 21:21

So is this the binge watch thread?

Though only to episode 2, will be watching more.

But have to say it doesn't quite have the charm? cleverness? of the first series.

Though am a little bit entranced by Pund's secretary!

ErrolTheDragon · 17/11/2024 22:32

DH is a binger, we finished this in two sittings.

Here's the link to the weekly no spoilers thread

MOONFLOWER MURDERS s2 (was magpie murders S1 ) starts 16th Nov - SAT 9.15pm - TV PACE - NO SPOILERS http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/telly_addicts/5204406-moonflower-murders-s2-was-magpie-murders-s1-starts-16th-nov-sat-915pm-tv-pace-no-spoilers

So with a clear conscience on this thread I can ask wtf was that in the very last scene supposed to be?Confused

ErrolTheDragon · 17/11/2024 22:53

Oh it's ok I was being dense.

Do you mean the floating letters?

If so and you now understand please do explian.

Thanks!

IwantToRetire · 19/11/2024 18:02

SPOILER

Overall I enjoyed this, but didn't really like the intercutting of the different time lines.

But then I always struggle with them.

Am still in recovery mode having learnt the secretary I was (am) so entranced by is a culprit.

How will she continue to be so stylish in prison?

I understood the floating letters as showing you that the secretary's name (murderer from the 50's timeline) was an anagram of Aiden the murderer in present time. So when Alan Conway wrote the book he obviously knew Aiden was the murderer (all the Leo clues) so he uses his name as the anagram for the secretary's name as the clue, however Susan missed this clue completely, she only caught the Leo ones and the 'Brisbane' clue.

Floralnomad · 21/11/2024 19:52

We watched this in 2 sittings and quite enjoyed it but we had worked out who had done what before any reveals .

Thank you so much.

I am quite bad with characters names, but also couldn't quite even stopping the recording catch all the letters.

But yes, that would fit in the linking between the 2 stories.

So upset she's is a culprit.

I was hoping she would be in any future series. Sad

monicagellerbing · 22/11/2024 12:47

@IwantToRetire no problem. Yes she was a good character I liked her and didn't suspect her at all! It was really well done

The fake fainting and many fan-girl comments made it pretty obvious when we got to the end part I thought.

monicagellerbing · 22/11/2024 16:33

@ErrolTheDragon lol yes now you mention that it's obvious, but it completely went by me! 😂

Dont think so. Part of her character, seemed to me, that she was "performing" the role of secretary for whatever reason.

It was all a bit too perfect.

And her being a superfan wasn't that obvious, which was the reason for her act of violence.

All the others were about messed up personal relations.

Anyway I will miss her!

What was the Brisbane clue? I missed that one. I just finished it. I see there is a third book, so hope they make a third series, although looks like she splits with Andreas 😔 I thought he was going to propose in that cave!
