I loved the film with Meryl Streep playing Julia Child but this new series staring Sarah Lancashire as Julia Child is just fabulous. Sarah Lancashire is a brilliant actress but is outstanding in this role. Great cast supporting also. Anyone else watching?

I am watching - she is AMAZING. The relationship between the two is nicely done. But what has really surprised me is that her show was the first of a kind!

If she could see that industry now....

Sarah Lancaster is a brilliant actor, I watch everything she is in because she picks such interesting material.

@CanIPleaseHaveOne ooh fab, someone to chat to about it! Have you seen the film Julie & Julia? From memory, the relationship between Julia and Paul was not portrayed as warmly.

Im only on the first episode but how fab to see some of the Frasier gang?😃

eleanorwish · 13/04/2022 20:09

I've just been reading about her on Wikipedia. She was 6 ft 2 inches. No wonder they had to raise the kitchen counters for her.
I'm loving the TV series, just binged on the available episodes.

AthenaWhite · 13/04/2022 20:59

Just found this on Now, fabulous!

Joan cusack was actually meant to play her and pulled out last minute; glad she did as this is fab!!

Netaporter · 13/04/2022 21:21

Totally agree Sarah Lancashire is a better cast than Joan Cusak, she has the frame to carry off a 6ft2 Julia. .

It's fabulous.

Deadringer · 15/04/2022 01:36

Just caught this tonight, it's fabulous! Brilliant acting, charming, funny, can't wait for more.

SquirrelG · 15/04/2022 06:06

I'm watching it in NZ and absolutely loving it. The acting is brilliant and it's just a treat.

FiveShelties · 15/04/2022 11:18

Have you found it difficult to understand what she is saying?

BestIsWest · 15/04/2022 11:22

Glad I’ve seen this thread, I’ve been looking forward to this.

Juniper68 · 15/04/2022 19:20

Oh thank goodness Joan Cusack didn't do it! Haven't watched I'd forgotten. I love Sarah.

SquirrelG · 16/04/2022 00:15

Have you found it difficult to understand what she is saying?

I haven't, not at all.

Dartmoorcheffy · 16/04/2022 00:17

I think she's playing the part fantastically. I was a bit hesitant as the last thing I watched her in she was mumbling and very difficult to understand but this is really good.

Cantdoitallperfectly · 16/04/2022 00:20

It’s wonderful! I’ve watched the first 2 episodes and I had a smile on my face the whole time. Sarah Lancashire is brilliant.

Velveteenchair · 16/04/2022 00:26

I couldn’t believe it was Sarah Lancashire! What a versatile actress she is. There will be awards.

TheMooch · 16/04/2022 00:30

Began watching it... TBH wasn't that bothered then suddenly totally gripped. It's just lovely
.

FiveShelties · 16/04/2022 02:06

Must be us then, weird as no other sound problems with other programmes.

NowThatsWhatICall22 · 16/04/2022 18:06

Just started this last night and I’ve binged three already, what a perfect drama. It’s a great mix of social history and foodie interest. Sarah Lancashire is brilliant (though I can really see Joan Cusack in that role too) and the sets, costumes, styling is all so well done. Supporting cast are all fantastic too.

SheSaysShush · 17/04/2022 18:05

Ah yes. Brilliant. Sarah Lancashire is excellent isn't she?

I did love Meryl Streep in the film too.

Both are accurate adaptations of her book My Life in France.

Ididanamechange · 17/04/2022 22:05

And it has Niles and Lillith in it!

I've just had a read about her on Wikipedia too and what a life she lead.

AKASammyScrounge · 18/04/2022 01:20

Sarah Lancashire is brilliant in this.
Was it using dried herbs that she compared with going to bed with a German?

Litt1eDorrit · 18/04/2022 01:58

I loved the film and am really enjoying this too.

Netaporter · 19/04/2022 09:34

Excellent new episode now up today. 👏👏
