Anyone agree? Am confused why it's hidden away on bbcfour on a wednesday night though!
I know!
Genius.
I also loved the way Pippa casually threw that pen away (after Kim pointed out that it was present from her STBXH)...and then Kim fished it out of the bin to use! Just brilliant
It's comedy gold. There is loads of good telly on at the moment but this is the programme DH and I laugh out loud at (a lot). I nearly wet myself when Pippa appeared with her new extensions like some sort of deranged Samuel Pepys in drag.
("just to let you know, he'll shag anyone..." )
Yes that was the line TanteRose. And the look on her face when Dr Moore walked off!
I love Getting On but am not in the UK so have been waiting for it to be uploaded onto YouTube...which it was up to Ep 4 ("just to let you know, he'll shag anyone..."
)
It's being released on DVD as soon as the last episode finishes tomorrow (?) so I have got it on pre-order on Amazon. Can't wait
Absolutely love it too. I think it's seriously underrated - it's a damn sight funnier than some of the tosh that goes out on BBC1 of a Friday night
I work for the NHS and all the bin bag stuff, data protection nitpicking and talk of 'strategic' this and 'commissioner' that is very true to life, maybe with slight exagerrations here or there. The consultant is one of my favourite characters and favourite performances of all time. There was a glorious moment near the end of episode 4, where Den 'warned' her off lusting after the other doctor - it was so nasty and perfectly delivered that it was just delicious
. Comedy with an edge - my sort of thing!
totally fab !
Excellent acting, good script, but I thought it was all so depressing that I stopped watching.
I love the doctor, such good acting, she has absolutely no bedside manner at all. How many doctors are like that? Hundreds!
It is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen on telly! Fantastic. And so real! A bit frightening, it's so close to the real. Script is wonderful. I didn't realise there's another's series.
Wednesday night BBC4? Why on earth are they not shouting about it?
How funny, I have just discovered this programme, and watched the first series on youtube. As a nurse I have to say its more real ife than documentaries!
Just watched the last one. Interesting to see Tilda Swinton. Glad Den is still pregnant, that scan scene was moving.
Not sure about "best" comedy, but I do like it.
Excellent casting and script.
Another fan here.
I too think Den's pregnancy is no more but she wants to keep the fridge!
Hillarious.
limited I've actually been to that waste talk! We have 5 different coloured/patterned bags where I work, plus 3 different coloured sharps bins. And we can be fined for putting the wrong things in the wrong bins. I think that's why I love it so much, because I've already laughed at a lot of the jokes in real life
I was in hospital recently and was watching it when a nurse came over and said: 'You shouldn't be watching. That's our secret.'
A couple of friends work in NHS administration and said the pointless meetings, jargon, expensively re-employed deadweight like Ricky and his initiatives about disposal bags and switching off lights, the consultants more concerned with in-fighting and shoring up their positions than patient care, bogus qualifications like being a 'mentor' or attending short courses to rise up bandings like the stupid, self-important Damaris (in what world did she think she was cut out to be a nurse?) and lazy Den and the union rep are just like that.
Eek.
Got to catch the last one.
Oh lord, 'Modern Matron' and 'the same step of the strategic stairway'.
Very moving too in parts.
I think Den's pregnancy is no more.
I love Getting On. I have watched every series. I don't have a medical background. I love the threads eg, trying to get the code for the office door to open.
Its hilarious. I recommend it to everyone I know - no one's ever heard of it. I especially love the consultant. I'm ex NHS so I get all the nuances but DH isn't and loves it too. There was a classic bit in a previous series where Jo Brand's character was on a disciplinary for calling Ricky Grover a fat ponce or something and the union rep asks ricky grover -are you gay? He says why is that relevant? Union rep - I need to decide whether its homophobic or inappropriate use of language! Classic.
I love love love this, so sad the next episode is the last this series. I adore the background details like all the ward names being mountain ranges. I heard Popocatepetl get a mention the other day. Also the hospital canteen is called Chatters, just perfect detail. No medical background here.
Am a nurse and love it!
Not sure whats going on with Den's 'pregnancy'
Love the doctor best, fantastic scripting and casting. Am non-medical but still find it so funny. I haven't seen this series because I CAN'T FIND WHEN IT'S ON!!!! BBC - that's aimed at you! It deserves more prominence.
As I nurse I love it and it's the most realistic medical programme I've ever watched (unfortunately
), but dh isn't a medical professional and he loves it too. The thing is I know people exactly like most of the characters! I've never been offered a fridge for my EBM though
Love it.
A friend I recommended it to complained it was 'depressing' but I think it has just the right mix of poignancy and humour. Bit like another favourite of mine from ages ago, Early Doors.
It's bloody brilliant.
I love it, the den storyline seems sad to me. The lady parts photo bit was so funny especially with the po faced unionist
