Who's that girl?

(22 Posts)

Is utter crap or am I missing something? My 10.8 DD adores it. I am clearly the wrong demographic.

on channel 4?

i know, big hit with my dc's.

<<feels old>>

oh,i was thinking of new girl, were you?

blush sorry, that's it. New girl. In fact DD has just watched it again.

i knew what you meant. grin

I think you are missing something. Dh and I think it is hilarious! Love it! <juvenile grin>

She is currently watching last weeks, possible the week before. It is so purile and not funny.
To me it's quite clear she will end up in a relationship with the one who isn't Schmidt or the black man, the one from Chicago.

DD has just told me he's called Nick.
I imagine it will take at least 12 series before it happens.

I knew who you meant too & I enjoy it grin

I think it's very funny, DH thinks it's "more American guff"

Guess which one of us wears tweed jackets with leather elbow patches though....I rest my case.

I was just thinking about this show-I can't decide if I like it or not. I love Zooey Deschanel (sp?) generally but think the show's a bit weak and not sure it'll last.

sad I am in a minority - apart from Mr Bee.
Currently they are all getting aggravated because Jess has seen Nick's penis. Except she can't say the word. How funny is that?

Tooblunt2012 Sat 11-Feb-12 10:16:23

I watched that episode a couple of weeks ago - I thought it was funny grin. Not sure what that says about me though!!

Zooey was nominated for a Golden Globe for her part, so likely it will be around for a while.

Hmmm I'm still not sure about it. I think Zooey is going to be annoying rather than endearing.

RedBlanket Sat 11-Feb-12 10:22:41

It's ok, but the 'I'm so kooky and ditsy and loveable' stuff will get a bit old by the end of the series.
And they are Obviously lining her up for a will-they-won't-they romance with Nick.

My DD won't belive that's going to happen. Her and Nick? No. I her mind it will be whichever man she brings back.
Last night it was violin man. DD decided they would get wed. She also thinks Jess may get back with the man who broke her heart.

i think it's laugh out loud funny! and i'm 40ish!!! blush

even dh thinks it rather amusing!!! and he generally hates us comedy shows!!!

celticlassie Sat 11-Feb-12 18:46:55

It is SO annoying. I normally love these crappy American sitcoms but the 'kookiness' really pisses me off. And all the I'm not gorgeous' crap. angry

It's terrible. About the same sort of entertainment value as most of the guff that's produced.

I don't think I have ever seen Zooey Deschanel do anything that wasn't "kooky". I tire of seeing her very quickly.

Some parts of it are really well written. I think it's got potential. At the moment the set up is pretty limited ( for a start she can't be new girl if the show runs for 10 seasons, can she?!) and the time old 'take a pretty girl and stick glasses on her et voila she's a geek' thing is not working, it would be better if she was a bit less self-consciously 'kooky'. It was a good first series & these things take time to bed in.

Well hopefully DD will forget it's on. She has just watched the latest one. Again.
Since she is a bit mutt at the moment, it's at top volume. Doesn't get any funnier with the 5/6/7/8/ hearing of it.

I quite like Zooey Deschanel, so have watched it a couple of times - but it's not great. Odd moments of humour but otherwise, nah, I can miss it quite happily.
