Can't watch. Saw it for first time early last year and sobbed from start to finish. Wonderful film.
I read the book and hated it so I'm surprised how much I'm enjoying the film.

I couldn't get into the book or the film
Channel 4 started at 9pm.
i loved the book, but thought the acting in the film was slightly crap...the book stayed with me for ages and i had to re read the last bit, and blubbed like a baby.
but not the film. i thought henry was all wrong in it....he wasnt my henry that i had in my head....
That's why I like the film as Henry is exactly as I imagined him. Really surprised at how the film mirrors my imagination in terms of characters, scenery etc. I found the time travelling in the book irritating and confusing but it is easier watching it on film!

I love the book, and when I first saw the film I didn't rate it, as too different. But am blubbing now......

This last bit is nice and all, but so not per the book, which is much sadder and more poignant.

they didnt do the bit at the end where she sees him when she is old did they? probably a good job....my nose is blocked as it is....

I am outraged that they did not do the bit at the end, it was my favourite bit of the book (sob sob!)
Sorry to crash in here just no one else to share my outrage with!!
Was still glued and cried in anticipation if all sad bits.
I'm off to read the book again now...

Blubbing my heart out! First time I've seen the film, read the book many times.
I didn't like the ending but I suppose they didn't want to make Rachel Mcwhatever old and wrinkly.
They filmed the book ending but "test audiences" didn't like it so they refilmed. Somewhere out there is an old, wrinkly Rachael mcadams in a rocking chair..
I just stop watching before that new bit.. Much better

Ah yes I loved Henry in book and film yummy punk librarian deluxe
Love the book, film I found very different (not so harsh I guess, toned down for cinema audience?) but still really good and sad (sniff again)
i didnt like Henry to start with in the book, but then i thought he wasnt meant to be particularly likeable until he met Claire....then he changed, and i sort of always thought that was the point....
still sobbed like a baby at both the bloody book and film....

Just sobbed my way through this, howled at the end!
Loved the book and have seen the movie before, wasn't sure about the adaptation, the characters, but there is something about time travel that gets me.

I think the book is a huge steaming pile of shite so I too was surprised by the film. I thought it was a pretty good piece of work. Henry and Clare are both totally wrong for the characters in my head but generally it was a perfectly ok watch.

How does the book end? I read it years ago but I can't remember it much, I remember finding it difficult to get into.
Read it years ago but I think a young Henry comes back to the house and sees Claire in her old age.
more or less....at some point in the book when he travels he sees claire as an old lady - he never seemed to go forward very often - mostly he travelled back in time.
its mentioned early on.
He leaves claire a letter to read after his death - and he tells her that she will see him again, and its so so bloody sad i sobbed.....but it ends up making her live the rest of her entire life just waiting to see him, which i thought was really sad too - i dont think Henry meant for that to happen - but she just lives her life waiting to see him.
