I'm just curious. Does anyone else out there have any teens that litrally have NO HOBBIES or ANY interests outside of the home?

If so, how do you get a break from them?

My ds (13 tomorrow), has art club at school and scouts once a week, but that's it. He isn't into sports or playing a musical instrument, but has just started going to a stagecrew club at school, so that might hopefully take off, and he will get involved in the school productions.

Depends on how much it matters that the hobbies are outside the home.

DS goes to karate & fencing classes, & to youth club once a week, but his favourite things to do at home are cranking his ipod speakers up full blast and drumming along, or gaming (usually has mates round for the latter)

Ds1 had no hobbies for years. He retired to his room when he was 12yo and didn't emerge until he was 15! At that age, he joined a drama group, did a Duke of Edinburgh and discovered parties and girls. Not sure which was the worst period, lol!

Ds2 just hung out with friends, mostly in the rhododendrons in the park or if wet, in the nearest phone box.

Dd1 had a zillion hobbies and I think dd2 will be the same when she reaches that stage.

Most of my hobbies were at home. My parents bore it courageously.

My dss was like this at 18. I posted on your other thread.

It drove me and dp wild....he is now 22, so he must have gone out and done stuff at some point, as he has moved out.

I think wait until he finishes school/starts uni, then they tend to socialise much more...Well I did anyway...

my ds HAD hobbies and interests till he was 12, then he had no interest in anything apart from getting on my nerves!

Well it could be worse, they could find a love for drumming!

Mine (15) plays the guitar, not sure if that's an interest but, they go to gigs with the local youth group once a month too and then there's the 'band' he's in, they have to meet regularly.

He's barely here and why he is, he's blogging, or trying to fuck up the PC.
