16th birthday party venue. Anything I should know?????

I'm about to go and view the venue for my daughter's 16th birthday party. We've provisionally booked a local night club (not too big, 60-100 people maximum) but I wondered if anyone else out there has done a similar thing and is there anything I should be double checking apart from the obvious questions about no alcohol and will there be adequate security to eject any undesirables...

Any tips gratefully received!

I used to help run a nightclub which hired out for private functions. We had a "no under-21" policy.

But that was a loooong time ago and I know the rules have changed.

How did your viewing go?

Hi OldLadyKnowsNothing. It was lovely actually, much more sophisticated than I'd imagined, all leather sofas and bay trees! The lady in charge was young but very nice and amenable to pretty much all of our suggestions.

We've asked for a strict no alcohol policy so she's going to serve soft drinks only at the bar, she will use my daughter's playlist for the music and they've even offered to decorate early for Hallowe'en so all in all it was a very positive experience and I'm much happier about the whole thing now!

It was helpful reading your worries but I am a few steps or maybe even miles back trying to find a night club venue for my daughter's 16th birthday next month. We are in south west of london. Any advice is welcome as she wants a night to remember while I am hoping the bank manager will not forget the limit to my overdraft.

What I don't understand is why do you have to have a big path at 16. What will you do when they are 18?

Venue sounds lovely. No alcohol is a definite - but also make sure kids can't go outside regularly to access hidden bottles outside! Do the nightclub check bags as kids arrive - if not then you should ask them to, also prevents hidden bottles.

I was going to say check for contraband alcohol, I was also going to ask about the 16 year being a special party.
We recently left Belgium where it was huge amongst the ex-pat community. Sweet sixteen parties were all the go at DDs school.
