A friend moved abroad about 18 months ago temporarily and now going to be more long term. She has asked me to send her daughter a selection of magazines/books now and again to help her 14 year old keep in touch with UK teens. What do they read? What can I send? Been looking but haven't a clue!

My DD(14) came in with a magazine last weekend (cosmo girl )and i was quite shocked!

I'm sure there must be some suitable ones.......

My sister is nearly 14 and all her friends read cosmo girl, mizz and sugar. While these magazines are quite sexally explicit inparts the content in the rest is generally good, and will help her keep in touch with Uk teens ideas etc.
BUt for my sister keeping in touch seems to be more about music tastes, so a chart magazine or similar may be good. Also celebrity magazines like OK are also popular with my sister. Access to Uk music channels might also be good if she can get these.
She doesnt tend to read much but if she does its jaqueline Wilson. Or Harry potter if she is into them!

Dd1 is 13 1/2 and buys "shout". Its got the usual stuff in it, but not so "must get a boyfriend and have sex "obsessed.
The letter pages at the back are well chosen and there is usually a decent free gift.

Think I'll print out your responses and send a copy of "Shout" for now, thanks everyone.

my 15 yr old reads adult books aswell as Louise Rennison ,mallory blackman noughts and crosses series of three, they're really popular, but she may have already read them if she's only just moved abroad.
She says she reads Bliss magazine.
