above knee dress + knee high boots = acceptable?

Got a nice dress - shifty sort of style (in shape not a character-flaw!), pale gold colour, falls just above the knee. Ideally would wear black opaques and shiny-ish black boots with mid-height heel; but is this look totally uncool these days? I really like the dress, had it for a couple of years but never worn because never quite found the right shoes for it...

it will look a bit retro

probably depends a lot on condition of knees

knees just about acceptable shrouded in black!

I've got a silver metallic shift that I wear with biker boots and black leggings. Does look a bit 60s, but I have cankles so the boots are a must really.

I wear above knee dresses with various colours of tights daily but my boots are flat. Not so keen on heels but without seeing the dress I would say it was fine.

If you like it, go for it. Would go for fishnets myself though, with a stylish pair of pop-socks underneath them to cushion my soles and stop my toes from popping through smile

I wear a short black skirt, black flat boots, black top, opaque tights, long cardi combination. Not sure if this is similar or not, I like it but I'm not really a fashion queen type!

I do this look all the time in winter - for work too. It is a bit retro but I think that might be why it works?

Thanks everybody - I think it'll be ok - liking the pop sock idea!

It's not pretty, but it's practical grin

The popsocks, that is!
