Terrible haircut, going to different hairdresser tomorrow. Need help deciding what to do.

Please!

I got my hair cut a couple of weeks ago and have been unhappy ever since. I am going to a new salon tomorrow and need some ideas what I could have done, since growing long is not an option.

Pictures on profile in a moment.

Before I had my hair cut, I had a chin length bob that I was fed up of. I wanted to keep the length in the fringe and have it cut shorter at the back and sides, iyswim.

Unfortunately the hairdresser did not speak English so it was a bit like a game of charades and something got lost in the translation. she has left the layers underneath quite long but the top layer is pretty short. It looks horrible and takes ages of blowdrying and using the straightners to look decent.

The first one you linked to was good, but I am not sure if my face is too chubby for that style.

The others were a bit too short.

I need to get the colour done too as I dyed it myself (because the hairdressers are so expensive here. I was brown/blonde highlights and wanted to go dark blonde and it came out reddish. DH was and when he came home.

I think you need to let it grow a bit as there's not much you can do with the current length. Mine is very similar at the moment so I understand.

I think you would suit what I do with mine which is to take the parting quite far to one side then, using a nice clip or even a flower clip if you're feeling adventurous, clip the fringe up at the other side from the parting. Make a sort of square hairline ifswim. Then scruff/fluff up the rest with product if it helps you get more body. The layers should give it a fluffy, curly thing so some nice movement.

Then when it has grown out a bit you will have some more options open to you.

I'm currently wearing a little rose from Monsoon as my clip and noticed a friend has copied been inspired by me.

BTW I went to another hair dresser to try to sort mine out but simply came back with exactly the same hairdo but slightly shorter.

lol at the same hairdo but shorter.

I am absolutely not a hairclip kind of person. My friend wears them and looks quirky and hip. I just look like my DD has been playing hairdressers with me.

Maybe I should have forked out for the 150quid hairdresser after all.

I think you are just going to have to persevere with it till you get a bit more length tbh.

I agree ,not much too play with there.

You need to give it more body .

Get some paste and work it into the layers, the spikey look in furballs last link would be nice I think.

If you do go tomorrow, how about getting a choppy fringe put in to give it an edgier look that is more versatile.

Some good ideas. I do have a slight wave to my hair that seems to come and go.

I love the colour and think the cut suits you. I agree that you should experiment with products and techniques.

I like your hair.

Thanks NuttyTaff, I will take the photo with me and ask her about thinning my hair a bit, particularly at the back. It just looks a bit scruffy.

Cornsilk, thanks, I have good days and bad days with my hair at the moment. It takes a lot of styling at the moment, and that was why I got it cut short, to cut back on that.

Will report back tomorrow!

New pics on profile, looks a lot better. And a bargain at only 35euros. The salons in Geneva charge 150chf (about 90euros) for a cut. My neighbour pays 280chf for cut and colour.

DH is going to flip. I wonder why most men like long hair on a woman.

Thanks again for all your help.

Gosh - what a difference! It looks lovely. It's a real style now - the other one looked like it was in-between cuts looking at it now. V. stylish!

Thanks, I am so chuffed that I have a haircut that looks like a professional did it rather than a 10yo.

did you get it coloured as well?

No, just cut. I think that the cut brought out the colour quite well.

Oh My God!! You look like a new woman. That's so much better. I'm very glad you took the plunge and didn't settle for my flower in the hair nonsense.

You could have been me a month ago V similar hair disaster (and that is a v similar pic to the one the hairdresser said she was going to do).

Amazing how thinning it a bit and more of a definite cut helps isn't it??
