The wonderful world of control pants

Hello, I have recently lost a fair bit of weight and am nearly at the weight I want to be....but my tummy is out of all control. I still look pregnant! I'm working on it, but would like some underwear to wear day to day to hold it in a bit under dresses etc that is comfy enough to wear all day at work. I have Spanx shorts for special occasions but they are a bit uncomfy for every day.

Any ideas v welcome!! Thanks Flowers

I'm sure marks and Spencers do good control underwear for relatively decent prices! That would be my first go to Smile

I got some from BHS which do the trick and they are cheap. Think i paid £10 for a pair of shorts-come-pants

Congrats on losing weight!
For control knickers I go to M & S, Primark and t k Maxx.
I think in M&S, the trick is to avoid the temptation to size down and buy the size you are now. That way you will actually wear them instead of leaving them in the knicker drawer because they cut you in half.
I find wearing good waist high knickers and a co troll vest give me the sleekest silhouette - and Primark control vests are the best for this.
But I am a voluptuous 14 so the best I can hope for is to look smoother rather than slimmer :)

I have a few of these which I wear pretty much daily. I was (until a few weeks ago) an 18/20, but since lost 19lbs. I wore a 16 and it felt fine. Since losing weight I can feel it looser, but not enough to go down a size again yet.

Wow, great!! Thanks everyone!! I'll do a massive online order and be a smoother, sleeker being!!
Do you wear a bra with the vest candy?

I'm 32 G so I do! But only if going out. In the house I am slovenly.
Debenhams own bras are the best I've found after extensive research.

Candy is so right, do not buy too-small control pants - I did this and actually had to go home early on a night out because I was so uncomfortable!

drq may I ask about going to the toilet?

creature Grin I had to take my Spanx off at my own wedding and go commando as I couldn't eat!!! Not my classiest moment!!!

I agree about not buying to tight but also not the really high waisted ones either. Had a similar wedding disaster as a bridesmaid and the Spanx I wore came up to my ribs. I had to practically get undressed every time I went to the loo as my dress was boned. Not great after a load of tequila!

My Spanx had a slit so you could go knicker less and wee through the hole.
drquinn I have the Primark version of that. So I can wear my own bra.
It has poppers so you can release it.
Poppers when drunk are pretty challenging though.

I think I just over shared about my Spanx.

Btw Spanxx in home Bargains-5.99. I'm saving them for a night when comfort isn't a priority.

My best control pants are (hugely unflattering) of unknown brand but...
have legs almost to my knees, so no lines under clothing, and
are made of a shiny sort of fabric so act like a slip as well.

Hideous but blooming useful!

I've got some M&S ones. They are really high waisted, can pretty much tuck my bra into them. !
I'm at 12/14 but got a 14/16. Loose enough so that I can breathe, but fitted enough to smooth out all the lumpy bits.

I threw a pair of Spanx into the bin in a pub toilet once, I thought I was going to pass out they were so tight and uncomfortable.

I have some 'Marilyn Monroe' control shorts that I got from tkmax for about £8 for two, they absolutely brilliant especially under dresses.
Very comfy and wash well, I wear them a lot.

Not half as glam as the name suggests though. Grin

I've had the Marilyn Monroe ones from t k Maxx too. Recommend them, very comfy.

Grin glad I'm not the only Spanx binner. And I just couldn't bring myself to wee through the gap in them, am prob v repressed or something.

Lots of options, thank you!! I like the thought of a vest and pants combo. I like the sound of the poppers less, am having hideous forebodings of the poppers unpopping noisily and obviously as I sit down or something. But I will practise at home!!!

Thank you all so much Flowers

No such thing as over sharing .....

They've got poppers on the gusset Blush

Weeing through the slit of Spanx is an art-form only mastered by a select few I suspect ..... Certainly unachievable by the end of a good night Wink

There is a certain irony that the night you wear your best hold-you-in-pants that go up to your armpits and down to your knees will undoubtedly be the night you pull ....

I can recommend Spanx tights for hold in and smooth - without cutting you in two
Easy to get on and off
I'm a size 16 and find their size c perfect - their size guide suggests a d but I could have pulled them up to my collar!

I recently bought some great ones in BHS, ( in their sale ) they were quite high waisted as otherwise the fat just creates a roll higher up ( not the look you want...) def don't get them too tight as you do want to breathe...

Ooh I'm watching this with interest Persis. The best control pants I've got are the ones I bought from simplybe. They are a full brief and waist smoother with optional shoulder straps Grin. It comes up right under my boobs so I look like Big Daddy at the Big Top Wrestling in it but it is so smoothing and holds all the wobbly bits in Smile.

Anything support garment with a high or brief cut pant line - just pull it over to one side to wee. You can't do that with the thigh length ones, obviously Grin.
