Where can I buy a proper hat for a wedding a la Duchess of Cambridge but without huge price tag?

Just that really. I want something more substantial than a fascinator, but not a big old wide brimmed hat. Does anyone have any ideas please? Ideally neutral in colour as I don't know what dress I'm wearing yet! Thank you!

Can you hire one? My mother does this quite a lot, gets lovely hats, but without the hefty price tag.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 08/05/2015 15:18

Ebay!

Another vote for hiring. I have done this a few times and have worn some amazing hats!

What's your budget ?

Charity shops in 'posh' part of town or 'posh' suburb/village.

Ebay search vintage pill box hat

I was going to suggest JL too depending on budget.

missmillimentscardigan · 08/05/2015 16:13

Thanks for the ideas! I would really like something like this www.lizzieshats.com/collections/1/504

And will have a look at JL too. I don't really know what my budget is - it depends whether I'm hiring or buying. The hat I linked to is about £100 to buy, so maybe £30 to hire? So I don't know whether it might be better value to buy it, iyswim. Or maybe I'm just thinking king I won't want to give it back!

Whereabouts are you? There is a lovely lady in Herts who runs a millinery business from home.

FauxFox · 08/05/2015 17:15

I got a C&A one for £4 in a vintage shop which would actually go with the blue dress you linked on another thread - I wore it with a side bun and it has an elastic strap that holds it on - if you like it PM me your address and i'll post you it Grin

No probs - I love it too but I won't wear it again so it's better that it gets another outing Grin

The Stephen Jones stuff in Debenhams is pretty good.

CurlsLDN · 08/05/2015 20:49

There are some beautiful hats here

This one is similar to the one you linked

Ooh, I love both of those, especially the flower one.
