How do i stop my Birkenstocks smelling?!

Oh lord they are comfy but bloody hell they smell!

I only brought them last summer, they look like new but they stink!

I have tried putting them in the freezer as someone recommended but they still smell.

They are now on the back door step after being sprayed with flash - another recommendation.

If that doesn't work is there anything else i can try?

Mine have never smelled and are years old!

Think you need new ones and wash you feet more often Wink

Chuck them in the washing machine. They come out really well.

I'd be worried about damaging my machine. They are cork, how can you wash them?

My current machine has a shoe cycle but i recall just lobbing them in on a 40 with normal powder.

Put them in the freezer for a couple of days. You may like to wrap in a carrier bag first.

Have done that Mintyy.

Maybe my feet are really bad!

Will chuck them in the machine.

Sorry I can't help with the Birks problem (although mine have never smelled, I thought the fact they're cork was supposed to stop smells?) but I just had to say that I am AMAZED at Cervix's -apostrophe or not? machine has a shoe cycle. An actual cycle for washing shoes, how cool!

They are in now on a 40 degree wash.

Have put them in a pillow case, wash has just finished.

Will dry them in the garden & report back.

How are they Hokey?

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 08/06/2013 19:30

They are fab!

I cannot believe that they haven't been damaged at all, i was worried about the buckles but they are fine and there has been no damage to the cork at all.

And so far they have passed the sniff test!

They have been out drying in the garden. I am going to wear them tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Thanks Cervix!
