I have found some in Next that feel lovely, appear flattering and would get me out of my leggings that I've worn all through pregnancy and since baby was born!
They are not baggy at the crotch.
I do not know how to style them. I tried them on with heels and a vest top in the shop but it didn't look right. They are so comfy that I might just buy them to lounge about in anyway, but would love to know how to dress them up.
Any ideas, links, pics please?
I love harem pants. Might be some inspiration here
Thank you! Helpful. Just want a subtle look like...
Harem
I love harems. Are they the £20 Next ones? They are great for lounging but I found there was too much gathering and not enough drape in the waist for them to sit flat and look as good as those in your link. Try H&M.
In what passes for summer here, i wear mine with fitted t shirt and neat cardi on top. Normally flip flops but ballet flats work too. If you live in a warmer house than mine it might work now (maybe not flip flops though!) Key is I think not too much volume elsewhere and getting the length right - ie not too long but not short either. But that said I think lots of things could work - its trial and error. Mine aren't warm enough to wear save in summer so I don't know about boots ... The Hush models seem to wear them with Uggs but they are tall, thin and glam. I would look like a spanner in dodgy lounge gear in that combo. Maybe an unobtrusive heeled ankle boot? Pistol a likes?
I'm not much help really - unless you wait a few months ...!
Agree with Sonot wrt keeping everything else more fitted. I have these silk pair and think they work really well with a blazer.
Always think of them as being more suited to spring/summer so that I can wear them with beaded flip-flops. Love harems.
Perfect thread, as I'm expecting to find the Next £18 harems on my doorstep when I get home!
I'm envisioning a fitted or layered teeshirt and flat sandals, but I shall be having a little try-on session later.
Going to have to try those black ones tomorrow on shopping trip ... Had the black and white patterned ones (tapered jersey trousers apparently but looked harem - y to me) to try on and they made my knees looks fat ... Which they may be but I don't want to shout about it. Maybe the black proper harems will be more flattering, should they have them in my size ... Perhaps they'll be warm enough for me to wear now. Fantasy!
Ooh I've had my eye on those harem pants, as I need something to cheer me up, but couldn't figure how to style them nicely.
What is the difference between harem and peg trousers?
Wathing thread because I have the trousers, but to scared to wear a fitted top in case it defines my mum-tum. (haven't tried it yet but don't want to cry in front of the mirror.
I'm thinking these will be a great addition to my summer wardrobe....worn with a slim fitting top and some gladiator sandals
I wear mine with a "T" and converse/sandals
I'm on a next ban.... <look away from the site... Look away>
Maybe try a black t shirt/ vest and a bright cardi over the top, Lynette to deal with mum tum ... Optical illusion creates a slimmer waist/ stomach area. Or at least that's what I tell myself. Doesn't have to be really fitted just not baggy. Or ruching. Ruching is my friend ... But haven't tried it with harem pants. Have also worn mine with a shirt over, not baggy but straight outline. Worth a go?
Does anyone know how the Next ones run size-wise? Just bought (and returned) some from the Sweaty Betty sale similar to these as they were slightly too nappyish and the next version look like a good alternative.
I've just bought the Next ones as I had a cheapy pair last year to try them out and ended up wearing them a lot. I like them because they are a flattering and comfy shape but not too 'filled nappy'.
I haven't tried them in colder weather yet but as soon as it warms up I'll be wearing them with something like a slim fitting t-shirt or vest, a denim shirt or jersey blazer and either Converse, flip flops or flat sandals. I also love the look of the Hush models but am too small and wide curvy to attempt that
Lynette - harem trousers tend to be more floppy/drapy than peg trousers, and also have more gathers around the waist/crotch. Some are a bit too MC-Hammer for me. <shows age>
Anyway, the next £18 harems arrrived! They fit well (seem true to size; anyway, the waist is elasticated).
Do I like them....? Well, they are drapy enough on the backside to show a knicker line, so I shall have to dig out my thongs. Flattering, certainly. I haven't had a good styling session yet, but I think they will be better as casual wear, worn as Cambridge Blue suggests. I'll try them with heels and a blazer, but I'm not convinced they'll work as smart trousers.....
I want to wear them with a slim black stretchy top & apron for work (I'm in catering) - do you think they'd be ok for that? Not sure whether to go for 8 or 10 though as I do think these type of clothes look a bit better slouchy. I'm normally an 8... what do you reckon Cointreau?
Well, I'm a 10.....they weren't as slouchy as some I've seen, but the elasticated waist means you could probably size up without any problem. They'd be comfy catering workwear, for sure.
Great, thank you!
I love these OP - Has anyone bought the tall range ones? How are they for size?
I would like a pair but often find that I need to size down for tall stuff for some reason!
Or if you have the regular length ones, where do they finish on you and what is your height please? thanks
Ive ordered a tall pair.
Will let you know once they arrive
Thanks Roopoo! How tall are you? I am 5'8'' with 33'' leg, so they may be too long but better chance than the regular ones at 29''....
Am a 12 but sometimes find a 10 is fine on next tall.
Im 5"8. I tried on the regular ones in store and they seemed fine, but not sure how they are meant to hang. Website suggests I should be in tall. I have ordered both and will send one back.
