I have put a picture up on my profile.

It's just a denim dress that I quite like the shape of, does it look to dated? I will probably wear it with an oversized chunky knit burgundy type cardigan and brown ankle boots.

Also, it is a size 12, which is two dress sizes smaller than I was in September grin please don't tell me it looks too tight

Are you anywhere near to a city with a Bravissimo? Maybe you could have a trip to combine a visit there and perhaps a John Lewis personal advisor session? You wouldn't have to buy loads, but it might be nice to try out some new stuff for ideas.

grin

The dress itself is not very nice, sorry, but you have a lovely figure so it probably looks less awful than it should!
You can probably wear most things and look nice so chuck the denim horror in the bin!
Realise this sounds bitchy but please take it as well intentioned advice rather than obnoxious denim hate...

<peers out window for Pinot>

I know that I have been wearing the wrong size for a while anyway - until I got my current one, which fit for a while! I was so bored of having nipples around my waist grin

Pinot Wed 02-Jan-13 19:02:38

Yes, I think it's quite normal to still 'see' the old you. But honestly, you look great. Pretty convinced from your last post that your bra back size is wrong. It's the back of the bra that supports breast weight (not the straps) so it's crucial you get that bit right otherwise you may start to droop or have rounded shoulders. That, on me, looked like it added a ton of weight. Decent bra means correct posture is sooooooo much easier (natural, even) and you look even slimmer. I bet 50p <radical> you're a 32 back size maximum.

I'm not as obsessed with your bra size as it appears! I was just fitted wrongly throughout my twenties and don't want you to be too! Honest, Officer

TwllBach Wed 02-Jan-13 17:32:26

I am on the smallest setting (can't think of a better word for it!) on my current bras, and I always had a narrow back when I was thin. The one I'm wearing is actually a 34FF and I know it's a bit big so was going to try a 34F but maybe I'll try a 32 G as suggested. It difficult finding somewhere that does bra measuring as I'm quite rural. I went to debenhams once but they didn't do cup sizes.

I think I will have a wardrobe cull to get rid of things like this. Maybe if I get right down to the 'essentials' it will give me a better idea of what I need to buy to build up a good range of clothes IYSWIM.

Regarding te hip department - my hips still are quite wide, I'm a dress size 12 but I am wearing size 16 jeans. It seems as though my hip measurements are always 2 sizes bigger than my dress/top half. For example, when I was a size 8 top/dress many many years ago I wore size 12 skirts and jeans. When I'm slimmer, it doesn't look too odd because my shoulders are in line with my hips and then my waist was smaller.

Thank you for your congratulations - it's difficult when you're just looking in the mirror - most days I still roly poly me!

Had another look, it actually looks better with the cardi on because it stops it looking too puffy, but you shouldn't be hiding that great body under a baggy cardi.

TwoFacedCows Wed 02-Jan-13 17:29:04

you look lovely, i was going to say great norks too! grin

cocolepew Wed 02-Jan-13 17:27:38

Great boobs, but I think the bottom half it's right (the dress not you). I like the boots.

AgathaHoHoHo Wed 02-Jan-13 17:21:08

Agree with Pinot about getting yourself measured for new bras now you have lost weight. Get yourself on down to Bravissimo.

Back2Two Wed 02-Jan-13 16:18:27

I'd say, go for above knee skirt or calf length.

If you want a cardy with this, just a short one to waist no longer. Not fastened over your fantastic boobs.

Pinot Wed 02-Jan-13 15:35:48

Congratulations on your weight loss!

Now get rid of that voluminous dress and show yourself off a bit more. You don't need to hide behind baggy dresses and lumpy cardigans anymore - you're 25, you now have a great body!

You can do much better than that dress, in all honesty. Have you had your bra size checked recently? I wonder if you're smaller than a 34" back - try a smaller back size/maybe with an increased cup size. Boobs need to held up up UP if they're big (G cup here) - I think they look a little l-o-w in your photos. With a good bra, you'll show off that trim bit between waist and tits - and you already have a great waist.

G'wan with you, skinny minny.

Emo76 Wed 02-Jan-13 15:17:39

I like it but without the cardi

NotMostPeople Wed 02-Jan-13 15:08:52

I'm sorry but I don't think it looks good at all. The style is dated which wouldn't be the end of the world if it were flattering but I'm not convinced. The front is too low so that it makes it look like there a huge expanse of boob, ok so you have a larger bust but I don't think this is making them look great (which I suspect you could do). It gives you a nice waist but then the bottom half of the dress isn't flattering either. Also it makes you look older than mid twenties, I'd start again.

EuroShagmore Wed 02-Jan-13 14:56:28

I don't think it looks too tight, but I do think it looks a bit "old" for you. Based on the photo (which doesn't show your face) I would have said you were much older than 25 in that dress. Well done on the weight loss!

NoThankYouToSideSalad Wed 02-Jan-13 14:49:40

I'm afraid I agree with SchmaltzingMatilda re the skirt. You have a great figure, but I think the fullness of the skirt is adding "breadth" to your lower half. Have you tried more fitted styles to show off your curves to full effect? By the way, congratulations on the weight loss!! smile

Ankle boots definitely, it's longer boots that are looking mumsy these days.

Lose the cardigan, you're not far anymore so don't dress like you are!

I think you look v nice in that dress and well done on the weight loss!

AgathaHoHoHo Wed 02-Jan-13 14:05:00

Looks much better without the cardigan, but I'm not so sure of the overall shape of it really. There's a lot of fabric around your waist that hides your good figure. I think you would look better in something without so much 'gathering'.

Fantastic weight loss smile.

mirpuppet Wed 02-Jan-13 12:15:09

Looks great. Add a scooped heattech shirt underneath so everyone can see your great shape and you can be warm

anewyear Wed 02-Jan-13 12:14:40

Take the cardigan off, aahh thats better..

It looks great, and I agree with ankle boots, but yeah, lose the all consuming massive cardies, get some thinner flimsy flowy ones for your new shape, well done on your weight loss!!

wickedfairy Wed 02-Jan-13 12:07:54

I think it looks really nice on you and your boobs look great! Will look god with ankle boots, definitely not longer boots though!

Spookey80 Wed 02-Jan-13 12:05:20

It looks great. Definately ankle boots. I feel longer boots can look mumsy sometimes. Ankle boots are more current IMHO.

ZZZenAgain Wed 02-Jan-13 11:48:32

take it with you and try on some closer fitting cardigans/jackets. You say you have a few smaller sized dresses so maybe you can get something that goes with a couple of them to make a nice outfit for the cold weather. In summer you can wear it without a cardigan. I think it looks good on you.
