We just got back from Elveden Center Parcs having spent xmas there. It was a fantastic break.
Due to the heavy rainfall there were lots of big puddles right across some of the paths so we were glad of our wellies when walking about.
Clothes wise, it's very casual. I took blue and black skinnys, heat gen tops from M&S, denim shirt, cashmere sweater, tweed shorts and opaques. I wore a Boden jersey dress on xmas day with Ash Jalouse ankle boots. But I always wear a dress on xmas day!! A good coat, sports gear for activities, flat knee boots and my wedge trainers were also good.
Enjoy.

It Was the Longleat one.
NYE party was just lots and lots of people in a big sports hall place.
Not enough seating.
We arrived about 9.30, as we had booked one of the restaurants at 7.30.
By 9.30 the live music was nearly finished, there was then 2 hours of Disco before midnight.
We gave up with it, walked to the lake & sat and watched the fireworks which were actually very good, & better value for money than the party

We go to whinfell every dec but never been at new year.

Would you mind reporting back how you found it?

I normally wear casual but quite smart with flat leather boots or wellies.

Oh dear. TBH I'm not really looking forward to the party bit. I don't really like going out socialising. We have paid for the VIP tickets though, so don't know if it'll be any better. Which CP did you go too?

I've packed some jeans, a nice top, some nice flat shoes and a cardi for NYE.

Hi
Went to the NYE party at CP last year. Not my cup of tea. Lots of gold mini skirts, low cut tops & glitter. People really went to town.
Rest of the time jeans & trainers were fine

I live near Elvesen, bring waterproofs as its been really wet this week if you are coming here. (The shops at the estate opposite the parc are worth a visit too)

Thanks all smile

We're going to Whinfell. Which are you going to Jemima?

MrsWolowitz Fri 28-Dec-12 19:46:02

I was there last week and the paths were dry and clear. No mud at all. Have never seen any mud there and have been 15+ times <nerd>

We are going to CP next week too.

I always dress casually - eg jeans and a top with a gilet over it. Flat boots as you do quite a bit of walking (or cycling). I only wear sports clothes when I'm actually taking part in sports. I don't think people dress up that much even for NYE - smart jeans and a nice top would be fine.

I've been to CP a lot, but only ever to the same one - Whinfell Forest. Seriously anything goes but it depends on what activities you want to do - if you fancy a bit of sports then casual clothes are fine for the most part with a pair of trainers or pumps. I generally take something a bit tidier for dinner - top and cardi with smarter jeans in wonter and casual trousers in summer - but lots of people turn up in joggies and some dress up a bit more than me. Nobody bats an eylid either way. We do a lot of walking, so usually have walking boots or strong shoes with us and they are fine for the paths which have never been that muddy any time I have been but other CPs might be different. Whinfell is all on the slope so seems to drain pretty well.

The paths are only dry and clear when it hasn't been raining! If it's wet then the paths are wet and muddy! I'd take wellies or leather boots.

cjbk1 Fri 28-Dec-12 13:43:18

sorry I couldn't disagree more that "the paths are dry and clear" and I'm just back from there! x

I was there last week and have a terrible chest infection as a result of being rained on so much - I recommend waterproofs!! It is great fun though, enjoy!

Thanks all. I won't bother with heels, don't usually wear them.

We're spending NYE day in the spa. Can't wait smile

I wanted some converse anyway so I'll get some tomorrow, as well as some skinny jeans smile

I love Centre Parcs.

Agree with above, i usually take loads of stuff i wear around here, like slouchy stuff. It took us about 15 minutes to walk from the chalet to the main bit, i wouldn't do it in heels but then i never wear heels. However if you are use to wearing heels then i think you could take it. You could always take two options and decide on the night.

Also as it is all quite spread out i would make sure you have comfy shoes to walk in and a warm waterproof coat. I would def do the rapids in the rain its fab, so don't forget your swim wear, also we did spa treatments (for my hen do) and they were to die for, although rather expensive.

Have fun

Ilovecrossfit Fri 28-Dec-12 11:05:03

Never been to Xmas party but normally id take a pair of converses and lots of skinnies with shirts/jackets or big cardigans. id take a pair of wellies too I didnt take it first time I went there but saw people wearing them.

have fun

MrsWolowitz Fri 28-Dec-12 10:55:23

Oh Centre Parcs is the best! We go at least oncea year and love it!

You won't need wellies as the paths are all dry and clear. I just take a couple of pairs of jeans and some jumpers, a body warmer and a couple of dresses and leggings and I usually wear either uggs or leather boots. Don't bother taking heels as there's quite a bit of walking.

I have no experience of a NYE party there though.

Enjoy your holiday!

Hi all, we're going to CP on Sunday and I don't know what to take! I don't own any sports wear (I do have a couple of hoodies but no fleeces); I usually wear jeans, dresses or skirts. We're there for 4 days including New Years Eve, where we are having a 3 course dinner and going to a NYE party. What shall I take to wear for that? Does anyone wear heels there? Or dress up? Has anyone else been on NYE, if so, what did people wear when you were there? Shall I take wellies? Can I wear a denim skirt with tights and boots?

Sorry for all the questions! I'm going shopping tomorrow so can buy things if necessary. Thanks smile
