Black leather non frumpy cross body bag - help me choose!

So, I asked DH bought me a black large Mulberry Anthony bag, but now I'm not sure about it (I asked for it, I have the smaller one in brown and wanted something a bit bigger) as it looks a bit manly now that I've tried it on.

Budget up to £500, nothing too masculine looking, or mumsy/frumpy, or with fiddly buckles/straps etc (need easy access)

Quite like the look of this Anya Hindmarch Maxi Zip or Faithful cross body as they can be worn in different ways. Anyone have one in RL? Are they as heavy as the Mulberry ones?

I like the mulberry anothony better than any of the other two...

I do like the Anthony, but just not in the larger size I think - proportions just look odd on me!

Quite like the satchel styles around too but unfastening buckles would drive mad Confused

Have seen the Hindmarch Maxi Zip one in RL and really liked it.

Haven't seen the faithful, though.

Polyhymnia - is it a bit slouchy/squishy or more of a rigid shape? Think I need to go and have a wander round Selfridges or Bicester Village!

Hmm think you need to see it for yourself to see if you like it, as you say.I personally like it because I thought it was not too structured but not too slouchy, so very versatile.
Fwiw I much prefer Hindmarsh to Mulberry which I nowadays find a bit boring/ predictable. Hindmarsh a bit more understated and imaginative.

I have a Marc by Marc Jacobs one from last season but it is not large - worth a look perhaps?

Like the Hindmarch best of your choices but I see the brand as a bit mumsy tbh

Marc by Marc Jacobs have several lovely crossbodies, I have a Natasha - should be in the sales after Xmas, I got mine for about £140 in a NaP sale.

Djembe I love the Natasha bag, exactly what I was looking for. I was contemplating the cross body maxi AH bag but this is a serious contender. Do you know if all colours tend to be reduced in sales? Ideally I'd love it in tan or jet blue.

Dunno. Mine is a khaki colour so the seasonal colours do definitely get reduced - keep an eye on the usual suspects of NAP, Shopbop etc. They go like hot cakes though! I also have a 'Percy' in hazelnut by MBMJ but its probably too small for you, handy one though.

Morning all!

I'm liking both those Marc Jacobs bags... Will have to schedule in a trip to the big smoke so I can try all these bags on I think! Was tempted to order some in, but after the Anthony fiasco DH says I should go and see them in RL to make sure I'm 100% happy with my choice. (Our anniversary is just before Xmas, and he always gets me something 'nice' for that rather than for Xmas day, so am a bit gutted about the Anthony Xmas Sad). I just think if I'm spending that much on a bag it needs to be totally amazing, versatile and something that won't date.

Actually I'll be in London this Saturday, so maybe i can squeeze in a trip to Selfridges, Liberty, Westfield or even Bicester on the drive down - where would be best to go?

If you look online Harrods has a fantastic bag collection. As do Harvey Nichols and Selfridges - better than liberty for Marc by Marc Jacobs. But the sales will start on Thursday so bags will go quickly.

So an update if anyone is interested. Went to Bicester and picked up this Tory Burch messenger bag. Love it, can be worn cross body (folded or unfolded), as a shoulder bag or as oversized clutch total bargain, reduced from £350 to £168 Smile they had a few and also in purple.
