I have been using the No 7 Hot Cloth cleanser for a while now and I really like it. Thinking of changing to the Superdrug version to save some £ though. Just wondered if anyone had tried both and how they compare? Or if there are any other alternatives?
I use the Superdrug Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser and it is amazing. Have never used no 7 as I am not going to be swayed from the cheaper option. My skin glows (and I have a new baby and toddler, so this in no mean feat). It is comparable to the Elemis one which I have (and is about £29) so I don't think you will be disappointed. I guess the no 7 one is the same price when you have one of those £5 off vouchers, but I definitely recommend superdrug!
I've tried a few hot cloth cleansers as a cheaper alternative to Liz Earle, and I would rate the No7 one over the Superdrug VitE one personally.
I found the Superdrug cleanser overly perfumed and drying for my skin (though if your skin is oilier it may suit you). The No7 one felt creamier on the skin, didn't sting my eyes and didn't smell as synthetic. I think it lasts longer too as it comes in a pump so maybe more economical (especially when purchased with fiver off)
Sanctuary one was OK and I sometimes use the Boots Botanics Balm if I want something more Eve Lom like
I wasn't too keen on the Superdrug one because it made my skin feel dry and tight. That said, my skin looked fine, using it, so it obviously wasn't doing me any harm.
I think you should try it and see - if you don't like it, you haven't thrown away too much money.
I do have an oilier skin, so I guess that is why the Superdrug one is good for me. I am now tempted to have a go with the no 7 one as well. Oh dear. This was supposed to be a money saving enquiry... Oh well. I'll wait for a £5 off voucher
shoeprincess that's the problem with S&B, has this way of separating you and your cash too easily
I thought I'd try the OCM to really save money - ended up with oil in my hair and my face never felt properly clean
I've heard the Soap and Glory cleanser is also good, but I hate their Benefit style fake cheery packaging and the smell of their products. But OP if you can get over that, it might be worth a try?
YY to Soap and Glory, though I haven't tried the hot pore cleanser. Only peaches and clean, if I'm just washing my face in the shower. Which reminds me, need some body scrub and I love their stuff!
I'm annoyed that Botanics Cleansing Balm seems to have been removed from their range. Grrrrrrrr.
this one Squoosh? I got mine on 3 for 2 a couple of months back I think, together with the facial oil which is a good substitute for the LE Superskin Concentrate.
That's the one Moo!
I can't find it in any of the branches and it's no longer for sale on their website. I fear the worst . . . . . . . .
Seems you might be right Squoosh judging by the poor reviews! Maybe they're going to revert back to the original formula which I guess is more like a cream? (You can have mine if you like, I've only used it a few times, there's loads left as its a bit too oily for my liking for daily use)
Hmm maybe the Vitamin E one isn't right for me - I have quite dry skin so wouldn't want anything drying.
I had a look at the Superdrug website and they've also got another own brand one called Radiance or something
I get my no 7 cleanser with the £5 off vouchers
Best one I ever used was a Time Delay Eve Lom rip off one in a big glass screw top jar, but they discontinued it for some reason. It was all aromatherapyish and grainy
I LOVE the superdrug one. I've had spots from oily skin my whole life and used a whole range of posh products, but this one has me finally sorted me out!
M and S do a hot cloth cleanser too
These hot cloth cleansers....could you just use a cleansing bar with a muslin cloth? I use Dove extra sensitive on my face and am wondering if I'd get the oomph factor with hot muslin cloth?
moo OCM wrecked my skin so I feel you pain. Still dealing with aftermath.
Cerealqueen - see that was how my mum taught me to wash my face when I was younger - bar of plain soap, rub suds over face then scrub/wash off with hot flannel (never did me any harm then), so think same principle can be applied with any rich creamy cleanser/lotion I guess?
I stopped OCM within a few days of getting my first spot - I don't believe that "oh it's just your skin purging itself initially that gives you spots" crap. Er no thanks!
I bought this one today. It was only £2.99 as an introductory price so not too much money wasted if I don't like it.
Quick update - I've used the Superdrug one a few times now and I really like it. It has a thick, creamy texture and a fresh almost plant-like smell. I haven't had any kind of breakout or reaction which is great as I'm allergic to loads of stuff. Even at full price it's only £5.99 so I think I'll be sticking with it. I've also ordered the day cream from the same range.
Thanks OP for the update (and review
) will go and buy one tomorrow!
squooush haven't Botanicals repackaged their stuff?
I've been using the superdrug naturally radiant range and cant fault it. Love the hot cloth cleanser and under eye cream both only 2.99 currently. Off to stock up tomorrow .
Superdrug Naturally Radiant £2.99 at superdrug today. Bargainous, almost identical in smell and feel as Liz Earle, you get 150mls and a muslin cloth for £2.99. Vitamin E cleanser was double price (although still cheap at £5.99).
I am a mug for paying £50+ at space nk for eve lom!!
I've heard good things about the ASDA version of hot cloth cleaner also recently
I've been alternating between the Superdrug Naturally Radiant one and the No7 one - have saved myself a small fortune on LE products (and I think the Superdrug muslin cloth is scrubbier/better!)
