Dark red / burgundy nail polish that is opaque in two coats - anyone got one?

Not as dark as Rouge Noir, more of an autumnal red wine colour. I'm really fussy about my nail varnish being totally opaque and non-patchy looking, but can't be arsed to do 3 coats
Just bought a burgundy Essie one - planning to do it during GBBO tonight so will report back.
Don't go for Nails Inc, lovely colour but needs at least 3 coats
I think Essie Bordeaux will suit
Stevie I have Essie Bordeaux - it's gorgeous but needs 3 coats to be completely opaque (on me, anyway - I have ridgy nails).
Oh no!
OPI German-icure?
Always OPI!
I have the essie one and only did 2 coats but it was patchy. Will have to do 3 next time.
Pinot unfortunately OPI have been letting me down! I have Got the Blues for Red and Have a little Rosti at this and both are still patchy with two coats.
Lakota I'm looking for a creme, not a shimmer, but Germani-cure is gorgeous! As is Every month is Oktoberfest - WOW.
Boris and Natasha looks a bit too purple for me crazy - I'm looking for a blue-based blood red.
Thanks for all the recs so far though!
Do you keep them in the fridge? I find they go on much better if I do this. And always do a quick dry base coat. Yes it's a yawn but a quick dry one makes it bearable. I do a coat of Nail Envy as that dries quickly and it helps my nails not be so buggeringly brittle.
Pinot No I don't keep them in the fridge, but I've heard that tip - I might try it with the patchy ones. Most of my OPIs and other decent polishes go on perfectly without needing to be stored in the fridge though. There just seems to be something about the medium/dark reds I have - they all seem to have a bit of a jelly-like texture.
And I always do a base coat and top coat! Nails Inc A&E + Albert Bridge are my faves. My nails are still hideously stained from constant polish-wearing though
Nails Inc Victoria is lovely, but perhaps a bit too dark. it's close to rouge noir. I think it's fine in two coats.
TheBirds I would thoroughly recommend
1) No 7 Stay Perfect in Blackcurrant
2) Alessandro Pro White for stained nails. I got mine in the July Glossybox and it is GENIUS stuff. Though am not sure where you can buy it in the UK at the moment. Maybe Amazon?
Looks nice aquavit but yes, a bit darker than I am looking for. Thanks!
I've currently got Rimmel Pro in Desire on. It's burgundy but looks very dark on the second cost. It doesn't need a third though. I don't know how long it lasts but I had their dark purple on last week and it lasted 6 days.
Lula wow, will have a look for the Pro White - I will be so happy if it works! I am in the cycle of having to paint my nails because I hate the staining and so making them even more stained... Not that I don't love having painted nails, but natural would be nice once in a while!
Rimmel Pro well worth a try because it's dead cheap.
Burgundy is my go-to colour for nails so I've tried loads. Very pleasantly surprised by the one coat application, drying speed, and staying power of Rimmel 60 Seconds in Rapid Ruby (6th in top row on the link). It's a really punchy shade: a rich, thick, dark red that also has a kick to it. And it's £3 so quite a bargain.
Hmm, I might give it a try Hyva. I've been disappointed by Rimmel, Revlon and No7 polishes so often that I've stopped buying them, but since you're a burgundy expert and OPI is letting me down I will check out Rapid Ruby! What other burgundys do you recommend?
Well 2 coats worked fine - Essie Sole Mate. It's quite a brown burgundy, maybe a little too dark. But lovely none the less.
I got a brilliant OPI one (for free!) when I had a pedicure this summer - they gave me the almost new bottle to touch it up with myself on holidays and I've been using it for my finger nails too. It's a dark burgundy and I've only needed 1-2 coats, lasts for ages. Love it!
Rimmel
Another Rimmel fan here. Love Rapid Ruby, plus topcoat.
