I'm going next month, haven't been for years. Must check exchange rate too. Any recommendations? I'll be in a big city with plenty of shops.

Clothes and toiletries?

Essie nail varnish is very cheap over there. Costs 10.50 here but about £4 over there.
It's very good and has lovely colours.
Converse shoes are nearly half price at the outlets.
Timberland for men is much cheaper.

Clinique is cheaper cos it's an American brand.

Anthropologie, Ann Taylor, J Crew, Banana Republic, Urban Outfitters. Maybe American Apparel. You'll also see places like Zara, Reiss, French Connection here now, and I'm pretty sure things are cheaper than in the UK. LK Bennett just opened a store in NYC at Columbus Circle - might be worth a look if that's where you are. American designers like Kate Spade.

Sephora for cosmetics, or any large department store.

If there's a Nordstrom in the city you are in (they tend to be on the West Coast) then well worth a look at shoes.

Basically everything is cheaper.

J Brand, J Crew

laura mercier tinted moisturiser

These things tend to be more or less the same in US dollars as they are in £ sterling so a big saving. I pay around £37 for laura m moisturiser in space nk and I'm pretty sure it was around $40 in the US.
