Oscars fashion - best and worst...fashion police over here!

I find it amazing how ordinary alot of the red carpet looks...considering the vast cost of the clothes and jewellery and the time spent deciding/advice etc

sorry DM but what did you think?

My fav is Natalie Portman in the vintage polka dots - looked stunning and stood out from the crowd. I thought Angelina looked beautiful but the way she is standing in all the photos sticking her leg out of the split in the dress is just odd Confused. Cameron Diaz did not do herself justice and looked older than usual to me, and what was J-Lo thinking???

My favourites were Michelle Williams, Glenn Close, Octavia Spencer and Gwenyth Paltrow. I agree that there weren't any that made me go wow and Angelina's posing was weird.

Lots of dresses were calling out for necklaces and poorly fitted.

Worst for me would be Sandra Bullock.

Liked Glen Close as well. Also thought Penelope Cruz looked amazing - a real Hollywood Siren. Liked Jessica Castain's dress as well - striking in a good way. Thought Meryl Streep's dress was terrible.

Hmm, well i think Natalie portmans dress looka ill fitting actually, round the bust.
I agree about angelina, she looks like she is stood like a builder in high heels!
Camerons dress is lovely, but i think her hair makes her look older somehow.

What the hell was Meryl Streep thinking?? Bad fitting, bad colour, bad shape bad bad bad!
I actually think j lo looks good, i wouldnt have said it was a red carpet dss, but it does flatter her figure, but the split shoulders are a bit 'market chic' Grin

My favourite is George Clooneys partner, Stacy Keibler, she looks beautiful. Also Penelope Cruz looks really good too.

Ooh yes Penelope Cruz looked amazing - proper red carpet glamour. I didn't like Gwennie's dress - v. boring and strange cape thing...I mean did that come off or was it attached to the dress? V. odd. Can't decide if I love or hate Sandra Bullock's dress...quite different which I think is good but not sure if she pulled it off...agree Glen Close - gorgeous, Meryl streep - ghastly and I would put George Clooney's girl in her category too i'm afraid - foil wrapped quality streets the both of them! Grin

Michelle Williams and Nathalie Portman looked amazing. Agree that Angelina looked really weird with all that leg sticking out at an angle poses !

Boring! Liked Natalie Portman, Glen Close and Sandra Bullock. Victoria Beckhams dress was nice at the VF party (I presume her own), but she looks ghastly.

Gwynnies cape = ridiculous.
Agree Penny Cruz looked gorgeous.
Angie Jolie looks weird with that skeletal leg sticking out. But I like makeup and smile etc.
I want to like Michelle Williams but I just can't.

For some reason the only ones I like are those with full sleeves - they seem to look far more elegant. Although Penelope Cruz looks beautiful.

Maybe I'm an old prude, at 35, but it shouldn't just be about 'the dress' should it? In my mind it should be about how it's worn and how the whole person looks. Meryl Streep looks like she rolled out of bed with a gold sheet still wrapped around her Shock

VF party

Camerons dress here is much nicer...VB just looks beige (dress/skin/personality) and there is something very wrong with Katie Holmes whole look - horrid fringe, much too big at the bust dress...just strange Confused

Loved Michelle Williams, Emma Stone, Glenn Close and actually I like Meryl's. She's a bit like Helena Bonham Carter - she often wears bonkers dresses that work well on her for some reason.

Angelina looks nice from the neck up - awful sticky-out leg though. Gwyneth's dress is daft too.

I actually don't like Penelope Cruz's dress - the colour looks awful on her. Viola Davis also disappointing -the hot pink dress she wore to the Baftas was soo much better.

VB has lovely make up and hair.

Katie Holmes is odd, and looks enlarged next to TC.

Not keen on Cameron Diaz.

JLo looks pretty, good make up again. Bit booby but great colour.

Loved Gwenyth - the cape really works, Penelope Cruz - it's all about the colour and it works on her. I liked Natalie Portman's dress but I think it just didn't suit her.

Please Victoria, for the love of god, smile. I really like her dress (bet she couldn't sit down it in though), but please smile. If your teeth are bad get them fixed (i have no idea if they are or not).

Cameron's orange dress is great on her - much better than the insipid beige number that made her look like she had no boobs..

JLo, please smile too.

Katie Holmes hair reminds me of a five year years hair do.

But I love Kate Beckinsdales dress, although she would be better of posing with a different background.

Camerons dress is amazing, my fave by far!

Vb looks knackered, my twins are the same age as harper, i wish i looked as 'knackered' as her Grin

There are some shockers, the short dress trio (awful)

Vera wang looks painfukly thin and the dress is awful!

Yes switch you're right - katie holmes has a 5 year olds hairstyle and a too big dress = looks like she's playing dress-up with mummies clothes...but she's 30-something...wrong!

VB can look stunning but I think that dress is a touch too long and very draining - stronger colours suit her more imo...nudes are very popular atm but hardly anyone suits them as far as I can see...

My fave is Emma stone and natalie portman, beautiful ladies. Worst is jennifer lopez, her dress looks horrid.
