Face oil

I read a Salli Hughes article about face oils and decided I must need one. I bought the vitamin e one from Body Shop she recommended (& night cream) but am not sure how/when to apply it?

Has anyone had good results with it? I tried the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair recently (and didn't like it at all.
).

Clarins have just re-released theirs.
They are giving out free samples (which they normally don't do) and information how and when to apply. Totally worth a try!

Yes to simple face oil! I use clarins one on clean skin overnight. I use sserum and moisturiser in the morning. Love it, but not a good idea for oily skin.

I am currently using The Sanctury face oil, I use at night under moisturiser. Have used Clarins in the past also but prefer the one I'm using at the moment. I don't bother in the mornings as I just haven't the time to wait before applying make up.

I absolutely swear by my face oil. Oh, and it's even great for greasy skin - it totally stops my skin turning into a grease bomb overnight, magic! I use the Clarins one for oily skin.

facial oil is magic, you just need to see what suits your skin best, I wrote a whole piece on it, here you go

Bio-oil is a fab face oil. I just found a bottle from my pregnant days and have been using it at night - not greasy totally absorbs and the difference in my skin in a couple of days is remarkable. Much cheaper than Clarins etc..

Bio Oil is cheaper because it uses paraffin oils. Personally, I wouldn't use that on my face or body.

Aromatherapy Associates do a beautiful rose facial oil.

Alternatively, you could make your own using a good quality base oil. For face, something like apricot kernel oil is good. You could also add a little rose hip seed oil if you skin tends to be dry or is (ahem) mature - use a 70/30 split with the other base oil. Rose Otto, Frankincense, Sandalwood (if you can find it) and mandarin are all excellent essential oils which can be used on the skin. Initial outlay can be more expensive than a ready blended oil BUT you know what's in it and a little goes a long way (you will only need 4-5 drops of essential oil in 30mls of base oil).

I love Clarins Skin Beauty Repair Concentrate. Its a light oil and a small bottle lasts a long time. Really soothes and brightens the skin.

Has anyone tried cocoa butter? Not sure if it is mixed with mineral oils but I love the smell of it.

Karmabeliever and Misfoodie I have begun using coconut oil as a face cleanser and as a face and body moisturiser. its also great as a hand cleaner too, i'm an artist and it gets oil paint etc off my hands as well as softening them too

I am attempting to make some natural lotions and potions using natural and organic ingredients - i will try your recommendations, ujjayi

I brought some coconut oil back from India so must use it.
How do you use as cleanser? Just rinse off with a hot cloth?

I have been mixing a couple of drops of Decleor Angelique oil with my morning moisturiser and then Garnier BB cream, then a little foundation.
My skin is looking good at the mo. Also been cleansing at night with avocado oil and warm cloth.
Tho have just seen the clarins advert in a mag and if they are doing free samples.... Just in the big chains - or would my little boots do the samples do you think?

Coconut oil is fab. I always put a dollop in my bath and my skin feels fab, i cleanse and moisturise my face with it, rub it in my nails and rub it in the ends of my hair after washing it. You can buy a massive tub of it in holland and Barrett for about fourteen pounds or a small tub from superdrug for about two pounds. In the haircare section x

I use the Neal's Yard one at night - either the rose or orange flower - switch between them depending on how my skin is feeling. Both gorgeous and leave the skin so soft. Retail at about £20. Last for ages and are a lovely treat for your hands if you've been outdoors and they are sore and dry.
