Following the preview events held in Liverpool and London recently, we've been asked by Activision, the makers of Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, to find 10 Mumsnetters to be Skylanders Spyro's Adventure Wii testers.

We're looking for eight MN testers (and their children) to go to an exclusive Skylanders Spyro's Adventure event at Hamleys toy store, London on Sunday 9th October. This special event, taking place between 9am & 11am is by invitation only with the store closed to the general public during this time. Event guests will enjoy a yummy buffet breakfast alongside a host of Skylanders themed magical activities, meet some very special guests and be one of the first to play Skylanders Spyro's Adventure before it hits the shops.
(Please note the event may be filmed and photographed and the resulting collateral will potentially be used for international marketing).

We then invite these MNers to test the new Skylanders Spyro's Adventure game at home, add feedback on Mumsnet and make a short video with your review of the game.

As we appreciate not everyone will be able to make this date, an additonal two MN testers will be selected, who would like to take part in the game testing and video reviews, but are unable to attend the event.

About Skylanders Spyro's Adventure

Here's what Activision say about the game "In Skylanders Spyro's Adventure, you can 'Bring Your Toys to Life' in a boldly innovative adventure game where players collect real-world interaction figures and transport them directly into the game using the mystical Portal of Power?. Skylanders Spyro's Adventure changes the way we look at toys and videogames, as well as how we interact with them by introducing action figures that become interaction figures and remember all of their dynamic experiences created in the game. The game is designed for children aged 7+"

If you are selected

If you are selected as a tester, and are able to attend the event, you will attend the Hamleys event with your children (with regret, max one adult and up to two children) and will receive a dedicated demonstration of Skylanders.

If you are unable to attend the event we will send you some information about the game via email.

The game launches on 14th October and on this day, all selected testers will be sent a game starter kit (worth £60) as well as a flip camera to record their feedback. We'll ask testers to answer some suggested questions to camera as well as film their children playing the game. We'd like you to test the game for a week and during this time film your review. We will then ask that you return the cameras - the film will be edited and then be used on the Skylanders pages on Mumsnet and possibly elsewhere (it will be hosted on YouTube) as well as for Activision marketing purposes. You will also need to add feedback to a thread on Mumsnet. Video reviews need to be done in the week after 14th October.

Everyone who is selected as a tester, adds their feedback to a thread on Mumsnet and records video feedback, will be able to keep the game starter kit and toy figures (worth £60).

Please only apply if you...
a) are able to attend the Hamleys press event on Sunday 9th October between 9am - 11am, OR live in the UK and are willing to test the game
b) have a Wii console
c) are around on 14th October to receive the game and in the following week to test it and make the video
d) are willing to make the video of your feedback and of your kids playing the game for online usage

If you have any questions, please do ask.

To sign up please add your details here

We will be in touch with selected testers and event attendees ASAP.

Thanks
MNHQ

Tortoise Mon 03-Oct-11 14:33:16

Woo hoo! DC will be so excited to test the game. I haven't told them I entered so will wait until it arrives and surprise them.
Thanks MN. smile

Wiifitmama Mon 03-Oct-11 14:42:02

Thank you! The kids are so excited for Sunday. Though is it wrong that ds1 seems more excited by the idea of the breakfast buffet than anything else!?!?

SouthernandCross Mon 03-Oct-11 16:32:38

Oh cool, thanks for choosing us. What age are other peoples children who are going? I have 8 and a 9 ( almost 10) year old girls.

CrossEyed Sun 09-Oct-11 13:02:06

Thanks for choosing us - just back from this event, and the children had a ball. The older one loved the game (other one too little to play).

Collision Sun 09-Oct-11 16:32:01

Had a brilliant time.

Thank you.

Boys loved the game and the 30 second 'choose as many sweets from pic n mix as you can!!'

SouthernandCross Sun 09-Oct-11 17:36:10

Thanks for including us too. The girls can't wait to play the game at home although DD is still mourning the loss of her gobstopper ( it fell out of the bag and rolled onto the tube tracks- I have been keeping an eye on the TFL site expecting news of a 'sweet on the line' type announcement).

Collision Sun 09-Oct-11 20:20:15

ooh I bet you were relieved about the gobstopper! It was huuuuuuuuuuuuge!!!!

SouthernandCross Sun 09-Oct-11 20:23:43

I won't pretend I wasn't a little relieved Collision. But her heart was broken and her scream turned heads!

Squiglettsmummy2bx Sun 09-Oct-11 21:06:44

Thank you for choosing us, we had a great time & can't wait to get the game at home. Favourite moment was definitely the sweetie part for my dd as she got the heaviest bag by far & not a gob stopper in sight, lol grin

Wiifitmama Sun 09-Oct-11 21:08:19

A big thanks from us too. My sons had a great time' loved the game loved the sweets, but the highlight for me was meeting the writers of Toy Story! Apologies to everyone else for my gushing over them!

Tortoise Mon 10-Oct-11 00:03:56

Finding it hard to keep this secret from dc. Looking forward to game coming this week and surprise them with game testing!

CrossEyed Mon 10-Oct-11 11:56:26

Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy gushing....

SouthernandCross Tue 11-Oct-11 11:04:44

Have blogged about it [[ http://mymumdom.com/2011/10/11/the-one-where-we-get-hamleys-all-to-ourselves/ here.]]

Thank you Collision.I went back and tried to fix that, then the phone rang and I forgot I'd made such a hash of it. Can only do one thought at a time at my age ;)

Squiglettsmummy2bx Fri 14-Oct-11 14:20:41

Just wondering if anyone got their game & camera today?

SouthernandCross Fri 14-Oct-11 16:00:59

Squigletts, no we didn't,. Have been sitting in all day too, of course...

Tortoise Fri 14-Oct-11 19:20:20

Squiglettsmummy2bx Fri 14-Oct-11 19:22:53

Maybe tomorrow? sad

Tortoise Sat 15-Oct-11 10:21:06

Just arrived by royal mail. DS's at their dads until 5pm so will open it properly when they are all here and I have camera ready. Will be a big surprise for them!

NormaSatansFelcher Sat 15-Oct-11 15:06:01

Where is the feedback thread?

CrossEyed Sat 15-Oct-11 19:21:11

Ours haven't arrived yet - have had people in the last two days in case. Will probably miss them on Monday now!

Wiifitmama Sat 15-Oct-11 19:40:26

Ours arrived this morning. The extra character packs was a nice surprise. We are missing the envelope for sending back the flip camera though. Can I live in hope that this means we get to keep it?wink

SouthernandCross Sat 15-Oct-11 19:58:10

Haven't got ours either. We'll probably miss them now too!
