i know a couple of weeks ago there was a thread that mentioned there might be a couple of charities that sometimes fund courses for parents.

I have been contacted about a makaton course for parents of SN children, and its only about an hour away - i really want to go as i feel it would benefit both me and DS5, but its £180! Im sure if push came to shove i could penny pinch and organise - but this time of year...

anyhoo, the point is that i cant remember which charity/s it is that may be able to fund, and i cant remember who suggested it.

Could anyone remind me please?

PS DS5 also has SALT fortinightly, is there a chance that they fund? or is it totally out of the question? (its a private makaton course BTW) Thanks for reading.

We get our Makaton courses for free around here, if your child is a SALT client. Funded and run by the SALTs.

DS5 gets SALT from local CDC, but the makaton course is a private run thing .

I was told that SALT will be running a 'more than words' hanen course "sometime in the new year", and have heard that its a good course to go on.

But i would still like to go on the makaton one, if anyone knows if it could be funded

Could try the family fund 01904 621115 - I have no idea if they would help but it might be worth a try!

i rather think that the family fund wont touch us with a barge pole, as (i think) its means tested grants isnt it?
