This board feels like the only place I can post about happy things without someone in RL going 'oh well x got his last term, last year etc etc'.

The school has a Merit system, you get a merit for each day you follow the rules, don't hit anyone, don't talk out of turn, don't push in the queues etc... [of course this is great if you are 6 and awaiting ASD & ADHD dx]

DS didn't get any in reception and was very distraught as is HUGELY competitive. But now in yr1 we have finally amassed the required 20 merits for a bronze award!!!

So for 20 days out of the last 6 months of school, he actually managed to follow the rules. I am sooo proud I could burst.

I have framed the certificate and hung it by his school coat peg [at home - but only school coats can hang on it] and I let him choose a reward [Cars Toons dvd which has already been watched on repeat a ridiculous amount of times since it came home yesterday].

I know it's a tiny thing in RL and most of his classmates are already on gold or platinum, and he's got loads of certificates and badges in his out of school interests, but it's the first ever positive thing to come out of school. Anyway, enough rambling, just really needed to say it.

Thank you all for your lovely comments, I really didn't expect any replies but it is sooo nice that people on this board 'get' that it is HUGE to a mum who constantly has to listen to 'keeps flapping, won't follow instructions, only wants to do his own thing, lost playtime due to x etc'.

grin
