Sleep

Who will rid me of this turbulent sleep issue!

DS is 25 weeks. Previously sleeping well at night.

From the dreaded 20 weeks was waking 2-3x per night to feed - not too much of an issue as just latched him on and got back to dozing off myself.

However for the last couple of weeks he is waking up somewhere between 1 and 3am - and he is awake. Usually try feeding him but he feeds with his eyes wide open watching me and occasionally smiling. When he finishes he just wants to play - will lie happily by himself fiddling with his hands and screeching for up to 4 hours before getting whingy and accepting a feed to sleep.

Unfortunately I am completely incapable of sleeping myself if I know he is awake - have tried going into a different room but still find myself straining to hear him.

He does not seem overtired during the day.

Someone sort it for me!

How much sleep is he getting during the day? Perhaps too much sleep during the day and therefore wanting to play at night?

It's probably the gross motor development that's getting his sleep all messed up. Nothing you can do but keep it as quiet as possible and wait until the phase passes.

pudding - he doesn't sleep much at all during the day (awaits bollocking from VS )

He will usually have a proper nap in the morning for 1hr or so, then a couple of 20min naps after feeds.

Have tried to do the HSHHC thing but he just does not seem to need much sleep during the day.

ches you are probably right. Was just hoping (like everyone in this topic I expect) that someone would come and say "Oh yes didn't you know if you draw 3 clockwise circles with a gannet feather on their tummy (or whatever) your child will sleep all night long guaranteed.
