I need to get some cheap skiwear for DD1(5).

Can anyone recommend any decent quality brands or shops that aren't too expensive?

Thanks

dare2Be (made by Regatta) and Trespass, both decent quality for the price and practical. Columbia usually costs a little more. TK Maxx are normally good on skiwear come October or H and M. I've recently come across this website or there is this one

I have done very well on Ebay for ski stuff - so often it is worn for a week and then never again. I got dd a great all-in-one, really high quality and cosy and still had the paper pover the zip pulls for £12.

Thanks.

Will send DH to investigate.

Have heard on the wires this week wink that the TK maxx stuff is in store already!

Decathlon do really cheap good quality, in slightly scary colours.

LIZS Sat 05-Sep-09 17:18:22

Really , I would have given it another month or so. Yes most french kids seem to wear Decathlon stuff (Quechua)

Thanks everyone.

Will pop to TK Maxx next week to have a look.

I'm sure we'll be going to Decathlon at some point to get some stuff for me and DH.

Thanks once again.

the ds have used tchibo suits for the last couple of years. Seem fine.

LIZS Sun 06-Sep-09 12:30:22

Unfortunately harder to get hold of now jicky as their uk stores are closing down and p and p for website orders is ££

We used Tesco Ski Wear this year for DD. Seemed to work well. Not sure when they come into stock - I bought through Tesco Direct then picked up in store so I didn't have to pay postage.

I have got loads of ski wear of all ages to sell. Only used for one or two weeks , all in fantastic condition....Got ski boots too lots of sizes from 13 to 5.
annmar... do you live anywhere near stockport

Some kids Tchibo stuff is online here if you are buying enough to make postage worthwhile. Their snowboots are good.

Buy it in bright colours so they are very visible - especially important when in a ski school group. My daughter had pale blue / pink stuff the first time we went which was lovely but out on slopes she didn't stand out too well. Now my son has fire engine red and dd has mostly black ( with a little pink to keep her sweet!)

Tchibo is outstandingly good - they have childrens skiwear on their site now - check the 'next week' preview tab. Unfortunately they have added stupendously high shipping fees but imo its still worth it. I got my 5 yr olds ski wear from there last yr (same as whats on the site now, slightly different combo of colours) and its really amazingly good quality.

Otherwise H&M do decent enough stuff or Muddy Puddles.

fridayschild Sat 12-Sep-09 07:53:54

I wear some MuddyPuddles stuff myself - thermals, snow boots - and it is pretty good. I wouldn't bother with the cheaper gloves though, they weren't properly waterproof.

Saw some new gloves that makes it easier to get kids' hands into - really good idea - Google Zipper Back Gloves. the zip goes right across and down the back of the hands so kids can shove their fingers in easily then zip 'em up.

Decathlon have adjustable-length ski pants, great for several seasons. We get nice soft thermals from Universal Textiles too..

try little skiers, i was happy with their stuff last year, sells dare2be and trepass and just aimed at children - got some good advice pages too.

Found a website called www.Eskeez.co.uk and they sell fantastic thermal base layers from teenies to Daddies - we didn't take them off all holiday and best of all kids love them.

Hi what level of waterproof do I need for a beginner? (The one I just picked up from tk maxx is 1000mm) Thanks

I've got a girl's Age 5 Trespass Ski jacket that I'd sell if you wanted it, only worn for one week.

stringbean Sun 08-Nov-09 21:09:20

I've always liked H&M for ski gear - its well made and very good value. I buy the jackets as winter anoraks for the dcs and then, if it turns out we're going skiing (sadly not this year) I'll get salopettes too. DS (8) always asks for 'one of those jackets with the gloves inside'; they don't really have goves inside, but a sort of cuff at the bottom of the sleeve with a thumb-hole - stops the sleeve riding up and snow going up your arm. They also do decent ski gloves.

Very happy with Decathlon - my boys have all the gear, the boots and the skis. gloves are great and it is all pretty cheap.

TK Maxx - I kitted DS out in Trspass stuff for a total of £40 the other day. Or Quechua (sp?) - DB and SIL live near their outlet centre grin
