Weirdly I just switched back onto the 'Classic' colours (had been using muted) and it is fixed. Very weird.

Hmmm, maybe try Internet Explorer just to see if it does the same thing. It won't open on its own since you have firefox, but you must be able to run it by going to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

I've tried that, but it's still ticked as let website pick the colours.

Firefox has settings to choose colors and override the websites colors. I can't see how that would get turned on, but it might be worth checking.

click here to see how to set them up Though in your case you want to set it to let the website pick the colors.

That is really weird - I changed onto the 'muted' colour scheme and the boxes came back, but then went back to the old one, and the boxes have disappeared again. AAAARGH.

What browser are you using and have you tried a new one recently?

Internet Explorer is the built in browser, but you have could have Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari etc.

It's really strange! I'm definitely on the right 'talk page setting'- have been through and changed it and then changed it back. But the screen is resolutely refusing to change!

zippitippitoes - how long does it take to go back to normal?
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By zippitippitoes on Wed 08-Oct-08 10:44:18

I'm sure the posts used to be divided, and the names of the posters were in boxes or something. Can't cope with this!
Contact the poster Contact mumsnet about this post By tortoiseshellWasMusicaYearsAgo on Wed 08-Oct-08 10:39:35
No, that hasn't changed. Oh no! I was hoping this was everybody not just me. HELP!

This page looks like this...

All the divisions between the posts have disappeared! Is very disconcerting!

Have you got onto the 'sober workplace' view? - see 'customise talkboard' at the top of the page

Emphasis: To bold a word, surround it with asterisks, so *hello* will display hello. For underline use _ , so _hello_ gives hello. For italics use ^, so ^hello^ gives hello. To strike out a word, surround it with two hyphens either side, so --dog-- gives dog

Links and smileys: To insert a smiley face, , type [smile] or :)
For a big grin, , type [grin] or :o
For a wink, , type [wink]
For a shocked face, , type [shock]
For an angry face, , type [angry]
For an embarrassed face, , type [blush]
For a sad face, , type [sad] or :(
For an envious face, , type [envy]
For a sceptical face, , type [hmm]

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
