Android Talk app testers needed

Hello Android device users - on Android 4.2.2 and later

Did you send out emails asking some posters to follow a link to download a tesf version? Cos I think I may have deleted it as spam. If that was you, sorry and I will try to get it back

I was just going to ask the same. I got an email today from "user testing, franny grant" asking me to download a test version. The email looks different to other mn tester notifications so wanted to check that it's legit before I download anything.

Just signed up. I was only checking the Play Store yesterday to see if there was a replacement app yet. A search for "Mumsnet" yielded "Netmums" as the top result (), followed by a load of games.

Just signed up - had never even noticed there was a Talk app, or I'd probably have been on here more

I think I got an email as well but deleted it as I just tried to register and it told me I had already done so. Happy to test for you

I am testing, but none of my tests posts show up. Are they supposed to?

U2 I think the email said that our posts from the app wouldn't be visible on the website version of mn, they'd only be visible to other testers. That's how I understand it, I may be wrong.

Has everyone else been able to log into the test app? It won't let me log in using my normal log in details.

Ive had error messgaes logging in and on the odd occassion where i have logged in, I havent been able to post anything

I can see other people's test posts on my phone, but not my own.

Haven't been able to log in, but assumed we aren't meant to do that.

Android user but phone is 3 years old so I'm not sure if I'm newfangled enough for this.
Bloody shame because I've been waiting at least a year for this.

Just tried to sign up and the page says 'you have already taken this survey'

Well I did but it was MONTHS ago...

I can't log into the trial at all. Shame!

I can't log in and it won't let me post. I just keep getting an error message.

I'm also having trouble selecting topics and threads. When I try to get on chat the app shows up threads in the gaming topic instead. If I try to select a thread it will only load the top one no matter which one I select.

I'm having the same issues as tiny although I'm able to log on fine

My login failed a couple of times but I kept trying the same details and it finally let me in. However trying to navigate around it has been a nightmare and I gave up after only a few minutes of frustration.

I'm logged in fine, but my posts don't show on the app, and no matter which thread I choose, it'll only ever open the top one in the list.

I've found that you can change threads by swiping left/right (a feature it would be great to keep). Sometimes the same one shows up a few times after swiping right but it changes after two or three goes. It's still hot and miss as to which topic is selected though.

Thanks for all your comments so far. As you are discovering, some things work, some don't; and some of those things are news to us. Please carry on telling us... it is very helpful.

The invitation email would have come from testfairy.com - with a subject line of either:
"New build of Mumsnet Talk 0.2..... Android app"
or
"Invitation to use TestFairy"

I have also contacted some testers who signed up a while back (in January), from [email protected] (User Testing) with subject line like: "Mumsnet calling - Android Talk app testing".

If you still want to download, but have lost the email, please contact [email protected] - from the same email account that received the invitation.

If you have Android OS earlier than 4.2.2, I'm sorry to say, this app won't work on your device without upgrade.

If you have downloaded and have opened the app, you can always give feedback by shaking your phone and filling in the feedback form right there.

Logging in is one of the things that doesn't work for some people at the moment. Sorry for frustrations.

My app appears to have stopped working, I'm just getting blank purple screens when I click on anything :(
