What has happened to the Topics?

I keep getting redirected to Topics when I clink AIBU, which isn't Am I Being Unreasonable any more.

Yet another change which MNHQ hasn't warned us about.

Is it to stop every body from posting every bloody thing in AIBU?

The 'quick link' to Am I Being Unreasonable doesn't take you anywhere.

MNHQ seems to have changed Am I Being Unreasonable to AIBU in the A-Z list. They need to change the 'quick link' too.

And I've never started an AIBU thread ... but I do like to see what's going on there!

Yep the Am I Being Unreasonable links which should link to it don't because it's been renamed AIBU, which I don't think they really needed to do because a) it's not massively long b) how will newcomers to the site know what it stands for? There's already enough criticism of overacronimizing (definitely not a real word!) as it is.

The link changes every so often. Weird.

I can cope with change - really I can. But only when I have some inkling. When I logged on earlier and saw "AIBU?" I was . I don't like being because I wonder if it's me starting on that slippery slope.

A bit of forewarning would have been nice.

Childminders, Nannies, AuPairs Etc has changed as well, it's now Childcare Options.

Yet Nurseries still has it's own board... isn't nursery a Childcare Option or will it only be for discussing Education at nursery, in which case shouldn't it be under Education.

Evening folks. Yes there has been some change. We've made a few of the topics names shorter so they read better on mobile, which accounts for more than 50% of our traffic these days. We will pass on your thoughts on this to the relevant people and will get back to you tomorrow with a more thorough explanation of everything when we have more staff in.

As regards the link to AIBU going to topics, we've got Tech looking at this now and trying to sort it out. Again, we'll get back to you as soon as we know more. Apologies in the meantime for any problems.

Could you have the old URL automatically redirect to the new one? To save confusion in the short term?

*URLs, new ones. Though being a sad aleck I have only noticed this WRT to AIBU / Am I Being Unreasonable...

I think this is what others are saying, but just to spell it out:

1.) If on the list of 'Shortcuts' at the bottom of this page I click on 'Am I being unreasonable?', that takes me to the full list of Topics (rather than to a list of recent threads started in the 'Am I being unreasonable?' topic - which is where that click used to take me).

2.) However, if I'm on the 'Active conversations' page and the 'title' above the actual thread title is 'AIBU?' (rather than 'Am I being unreasonable?', as it used to be), and I click on that 'AIBU?', that does take me to the list of recent threads started in AIBU?

And (1) is a mistake and will be corrected, when Tech has the time to address this.

While (2) is how the 'Active' page is going to look from now on - i.e. it's just a change in presentation (even though I don't remember anyone saying it was going to happen).

Is that right?

God, I'm long-winded, aren't I!

Also, when you are on the main Talk page, the order of sub forums has changed, so now the most useful/used ones aren't always on the visible list, and you have to click 'more' to get them, which just takes longer

I don't mind the renaming, Cutted. It's just that the link in shortcuts isn't working at the moment.

Does this mean old links to AIBU threads are broken?

I'm not the only one on the Super Furry Animals board that does not like the new title Small Pets.

If you wanted something shorter for mobiles couldn't you just have Super Furries or use the acronym SFA we use among ourselves?

For the pedantic I know furries isn't a proper word

Is OTBT supposed to be on the topics page?

I think newcomers not being able to find AIBU is a genius idea.
