OK, this is getting silly now.

I logged on about an hour ago and the active threads were peppered with spam.
Now I've just gone onto threads active in the last hour and the whole page as far as I can scroll down is spam, and I'm still at topics starting with the letter A!
Sord it aaaaaht MNHQ. We need a nightwatchman.
Thanks
I don't seem to be able to copy it but it says "Thread started by a previously banned idiot".
idon't think telling people off for following mnhqs own guidelines is helpful because at 4am mnhq might not even bother unless they get a 100 messages also if you are looking at your phone and you can only see the top 20messages in site and they are all spam you may not realise thread has been done before. and at the end of the day mnhq aren't stupid they won't stop eliminating spam if thats what they are doing to read every post
There are many, many spam threads in Unanswered Messages
Oh good duchesse, can you share? I didn't want to post and bump any of his so I just reported.
Can't find thread to see message plz share.
For the rape idiot I mean, rather than the spambots.
Funny deletion message!
I stopped reporting after I realised the scale of the issue, otherwise the reports will become like spam too!
If you report as spam you don't usually get any reply in your inbox.
Tee, normally I'd agree with you on this but clearly mn are clever enough to not to get distracted the complaints and to carry on trying to tackle the problem.
It's also a good heads up for people to recognise any posts where people do genuinely need help and to keep them bumped until people who can help with advice for a particular situation come along.
Ok so what's the best thing we can do to help then MNHQ ?
(if they lift their heads from the deleted buttons anytime soon!)
I'm hiding them as fast as the buggers appear. But do you want them all reporting or will that not just clutter up your inbox?
Is it too early for gin?
passes
with gin in it
YY to there being nearly as many threads moaning about the spam as there are spam. MNHQ know. They are trying to sort it. Just ignore the spam/report it.
But surely posting stuff is what we do! Asking a mneter to stop posting is akin to asking the sun to stop shining.
Agreed..am 100% sure they will be working on this as hard as they can so people asking where they are isnt helping.
Well, Tech lives in America, so he was probably working on it overnight.
And if people would stop posting about it and asking for updates, there would be more time to actually work on the problem...
There was a techie who replied the previous night.
I dont know if he is on duty every night or not?
He might have been too busy trying to fix the problem, to talk about the problem iyswim.
I presume HQ will eventually manage to stop them registering and then delete em all but it could take time.
Okay, everyone, these are robots, not real people. And obviously coming from all over the place or HQ could just block their IPs or user names.
Maryz I just reported one and put a note that I wasn't reporting any others as it was getting tedious so they just need to look at active! What they need to do is close down registration until they can find where they are coming from, but I don't know if they are willing to do that.
Yes Nanny - good idea, but unfortunately there seems to be about 10000 of them. They are even replying spam to each other's threads.
Weird and bloody annoying
I think it must be automated, and there seem to be half a dozen different ones this morning.
I think I'll go back to bed.
Between the spam threads and the complaining-about-spam threads, there's not much else on Active.
I'm particularly baffled by the fact that so many of them are to do with Gaelic Football and Irish soccer
. Surely there isn't much of a demand to watch them in the UK.
This is a situation where Hide All Messages Started By Poster would be good.
Maybe new members can be limited in how many messages they can post, or prevented from posting messages containing links... Something needs to done, the spammers seem to be posting fast today, wonder if they have automated it somehow.
Can I ask a question - maybe hq can answer when they have time.
On a day like today, should we report them all - I reported about four, and then thought that if we all report all of them the report system will get clogged so I stopped.
nightwatchmum did you mean FellNel?
