Day 2 of secondary school, and DS is practically comatose on the sofa

Grin He came in, changed out of his uniform in to his pj's, and is now laying on the sofa with the dog looking like a toddler about to fall asleep in his dinner. Anyone else's new starter's feeling the burn?

A bit snappier than usual but currently doing homework Grin. But she has massive bags under her eyes so will gently suggest an early night.

Yup - DS2 started this week, looks totally trashed and is very tetchy. But seems to really like his new school, and just seems to have regained his interest in learning, which hadn't been much in evidence in year6.

My DD is tired but coping ok. She sat down and did her first bit of homework (Geography) with no fuss. Just hope the enthusiasm lasts Hmm

MY DS had his first day yesterday and came home on an absolute high. This evening he is a little tetchy and EXHAUSTED. He did two pieces of homework yesterday but tonight he is vegging on the sofa. Am worried if this is day 2 what is day 7 going to be like?

The Day is SO much longer. He used to leave at 830 and get home at 4. Now he leaves at 730 and gets home at 5.10.

I saw the title of this, and had to laugh :o
DS1 is also 2 days into secondary school, got in at 4.30, changed, and has not moved since!
I've asked him to feed the dogs, and he's grunted at me Hmm :o
Luckily he hasn't had homework yet!

They are knackered for at least the first six weeks. It's a massive strain - new location, new kids, different teachers, remembering stuff, not embarrassing themselves.....

My DD was tired, but not excessively so - today was her first day, she has one piece of homework which is not due until next week so I told her that if she gets more tomorrow she will have to do both.

Her school day is actually a little shorter than at middle school - she finishes at 15.30 instead of 15.45, same start time. Because she is now walking to school independently with friends, she is getting up 45 minutes later than she did last year when I had to drive her to out of school club, so I think she'll do fine.

I'm a teacher, the OP describes me quite accurately.

DD very tired today. No homework so far apart from covering textbooks in brown paper. She doesn't know anyone aprt from one girl very slightly from a sports club she used to .She gets sat with her for most lessons and she has been getting the other girls to be a bit mean to DD.
DD is finding the chopping and changing lessons very hard.they have 8 periods of 40m every day -so potentially 8 diffrent lessons -although most days she has some doubles.

ds seems fine. I'm the knackered one.

DD is 15 and in 4th year (not UK) so no homework.

She slept from 5pm to 8pm on my mum's sofa last night while I worked late.

I don't expect to see her before midday on either Saturday or Sunday.

DD2 is home from her first day in secondary school. She has had chips from the shop (treat), sat on the sofa in her pjs for an hour, and is now doing her Maths homework. She is very very tired, so I am going to run her a nice bath and insist on a early night.

If it's any consolation DS2 is the same. He was bathed and in PJs by 4.30pm.
He is in Year 10 Grin.
