Sexeys school Somerset. V nervous as no one has answered my question

Are you talking about Sexeys Bruton or Hugh Sexey's Blackford? My children both attended Hugh Sexey's so can provide more info on that.
Sexeys Bruton has a very good reputation. I must admit that I only know in person one girl who has attended and she is a lovely, friendly young lady (now 18) who really enjoyed her time there. She's now at Richard Huish College in Taunton studying A Levels.

My DH went there! When I first met his gran I spat my tea out when she said "did you go to Sexey's School?" Left in mid 90s and loved it, as did his friends (he still sees lots of people from the school, who were in different year groups). It's in a lovely area, although not a lot to do except country walks, drinking cider in fields etc etc. When he went it was better for some subjects than others, weak on science for example.

His two best friends from 6th form -who had an on/off thing - are now married.

Looked around for my son. Great for music and generally really liked the atmosphere. However very limited when it came to learning foreign languages.

There are two Sexey's. Sexey's Bruton is an 11-18 State Boarding School, catering for boys and girls of all abilities. It has approximately 550 students, 270 of whom are boarders. Those who board come from a wide range of backgrounds including children from forces families, those living in very rurally isolated areas and those who live in large urban areas such as London. I have three children: two currently attend the school as day students and the other was a boarder and has now left to attend university.
The name is very well know locally and no one bats an eye at it. For those further a field it is a great conversation starter.

The other Sexey's is Hugh Sexey's in Wedmore. This is a middle day school. The two schools share a common foundation through Sexey's Hospital in Bruton.

I'm thinking about it for my DD. Thanks so much for all the posts...it looks very good to me and she actually spoke to people at Open Day (usually, she is like a layer of paint on my jumper). Kids seemed very nice and...real. Some of the schools we've seen, the kids were rather Stepford at Open Day. Father of two girls in school and one boy on the way there said, 'The families are kind of middle. Not too posh - they go independent. But ready to invest in their kids' education.' Other mum said of her daughter, 'She loves it. She just bloomed here. And she really needed a new start.' Like I said, looking rather good!

Ime looking at Sexey's for a boy of 11, not my child, bit nervous about bullying and what kind of backgrounds the other children come from. Would be grateful for a bit of reassurance.
